Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Friday 1st July 2011. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning everyone

The heat has got to me and I am up having a read before trying to catch another hour, I am an hour ahead of most of you so, it is not such a early hour here. Though I would start you off for today, and a new month.

Really just wanted to add positive vibes, prayers, ((hugs)), Hi-5's and spoons for some on here, either directly or within their family and friends group, and some friends and neighbours here and home, where the big C is affecting their lives. Hopefully that medical science can come to their aid, especially to those younger ones with young families.

Also ((hugs)) etc to those on here who need one atm, help yourselves.

Head not really into today's plans apart from a meal out tonight with friends from out here. By the way a pleasant 25-26C is forecast for today, but over the weekend is threatening to get up to 32C.:eek:

Take care all - DG

Morning to everyone too - been up for an hour and got a load of (quiet) chores done so now sitting having my first coffee of the day.

Today is a meeting in Leeds and then I'm going to visit my lovely mother in Glasgow so have got a pile of LC snacks in the car to help me avoid the dreaded sandwiches and chocolate. I will treat myself to a Costa flat white when I reach the Johnstonebridge services just to keep me going :o

Then on Monday I go away again until Thursday for work - have organised the pile of clothes ready to go into the case when I get back on Sunday night. How organised do I feel? :j

I do try to read the thread each day but am not too good at posting very often, however I do send out good vibes to those who need them.

In edit - just read the end of yesterday's thread. Extra strong good vibes to JG and her brother-in-law.

Up early and off to work in a mo. I am seriously skint at the mo, my tax credits having been cut. It's enough to turn a girl to drink if it wasn't so expensive.

Big hugs and positive vibes to those who need one especially JACKIEG.

Plan after work to not do much. One of my friends wants to go out but as there's no money it won't be happening. Think I'll dig up my spuds later :D. Tea tonight is chicken made into something.

    Have a good day all.

    Morning all,

The sun is shining here and there are loads of birds in my garden this morning.
WM is on and I am just about to make all the packed lunches.

The funeral went very well yesterday, it was a sad occasion but my aunt had a very full and useful life so there was lots to celebrate.

JackieG sorry about your news, my thoughts are with you.

Tea tonight is HM pizza (well, it is Friday!)

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)

My thoughts and prayers to Jackie G and her family, Lou and her family and Jackie O and her family xxx

Im enjoying the early morning sunshine. I really lost half of yesterday as took another turn in the afternoon again and then slept it off. However I feel much brighter today which is good. I did enjoy my trip out with Mooloo though yesterday morning as we went to a local village that has a lovely bead shop and who might become an outlet for her work:T:T:T

Anyway today I am going with my beautiful DD for a haircut and colour. Im now very grey, it happened overnight in hospital last christmas, and im not going grey graciously so reckon its an opportunity to trial lots of different hair colours. I have been red, burgundy and might go shocking pink this time:eek::eek::eek: My mother hates my hair:T:T:T
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Hugs to both the Jackies who's families are battling cancer.
Blue sky here this morning so there is washing on the line. DW is on & I've started making trifle, DS2 is putting my car through it's MOT today so the trifle is a thank you for him.
I had to make a statement yesterday about a child we are trying to remove from school, I don't normally get involved in that sort of thing, but the child was smashing up the local Tesco's when I was in there & I was able to provide his name.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

How could I forget - Men's Semi Final day at Wimbledon, well that is my afternoon sorted. Wishful thinking would be that Murray beats Nadal, Tsonga beats Djokovic, and then it is a replay of the Queens final, which Murray won!! ;) DG

Good Morning all,its a beautiful day in north Kent again and the big day for Mr Murray at Wimbledon.I have the school run this morning but not this afternoon as DGD Katie will pick the boys up for me as she has the day off fromthe Dockyard and it means I can see my tutor to see whats happening about my cancelled Uni course.
Didn't sleep too well last night and feel a bit 'foggy' today IYSWIM but will probably catch up later .Well a new month, and over the hump of the year.Still it now means its next month for our holidays.
Trying to stay focussed at the moment until I hear from Davy (I am hoping today at some point)Stressing won't help him and definitely won't help me.
Youngest DGD Holly's 18th birthday next Wednesday where has that time flown to I wonder. She is still keen on Camp America next year so I may help her out with a cheque towards it. I have already bought her a pretty silver ice skater for her bracelet as she is a keen ice skater in her spare time. She starts at Uni in the autumn so every penny will help her.
Well time for a shower and some breakfast
    take care all
and thanks for the positive vibes
    Cheers JackieO xx
P.S. just read your post from yesterday jackieG and sorry to hear about the news of your brother -in-law.its a worrying time at the moment and the best you can do is be there for your sis and family having gone through cancer myself 4 years ago I know how frightening the diagnosis can seem but positive thinking is the key and a determination not to let it beat you.I had the majority of my lymph nodes removed when I had the mastectomy to stop the spread and next month I see the clinic and hopefully will be told that my three year remission is up and I am into my forth year. The advances are amazing and the help you can get from the units are terrific.I have nothing but praise for the NHS staff who go out of their way to help you when you are feeling low and very frightened.I too will keep chatting to the big guy and hopefully he will listen .It can do no harm and as a believer, emotionally it did me a lot of good .God willing both of our relatives will get through and beat this bloody awful illness.Keep positive sweetheart you have us all behind you
    xx

    Morning all,

Lovely day here, I am off to work, but its Friday :j and I finish early :j.
DD's prom tonight, I am so excited :o, three girls are getting ready here, and setting off from here, the prom venue is only about a mile away, one of the other mums is coming here to see them off, so her and I will have a cuppa and a natter while the girls are getting ready, will put some photos on my FB later on.

Meant to be chilli and rice for dinner, but I think we will have people coming and going to see dd off, my mum and newphew will certainly be here, and a couple of others, so we might grab a take away intsead, will see how it goes.

    morning all

i have been reading but not posting. not a lot to say except my moans about the hospital etc. still none the wiser to what is happening. they did a blood test on tues and my hormone levels were high. repeated it yesterday and they have dropped slightly. at the hospital yesterday they said they were worried about an "unseen pregnancy". i have no idea why they are thinking this and they arent exactly being forthcoming with info  anyway they said if my levels have dropped they will retest in two weeks. i had to phone for results at 6 only to be told i need to speak to the dr but she was in a+e. (receptionist gave me results last time) dr called back and said i need to be retested on tuesday. asked why and all she would say is they need to monitor me closely and not to worry. easy for them to say :( just want to know what is going on so i can deal with it and move on :(

anyway enough of my moaning. jackieo i hope you hear from davy soon and jackieg you know where i am
