Even if they managed to track down you processor, they are under no obligation to provide you with a remedy other than returning the broken item (which I assume is now useless anyway) to you. Either way you've lost out I'm afraid, and I don't think there's anything you can do.0

Mircodirect are notorious for their lack of Customer Support - a Google search will show this.
I had an issue a few years ago and in the end had to drive to Manchester to sort it out.
They are cheap - but so is there attitude after they have your money.
[STRIKE]There is absolutely no way that they are a new company since only 27/6/11[/STRIKE]
It would seem that they have experienced cashflow issues http://www.channelregister.co.uk/2011/06/13/micro_direct_facing_winding_up_order/
Hmmm.... another interesting article...
It does seem like they have indeed been sold.

Ah but thats the point I was wondering about, surely if you take on a business you take on their liability? they have after all kept my details as a customer, all my log in details are the same etc, the processor is my property and not theirs and as it comes with a 3 year warranty if I had it then I could ship it back to Intel for exchange, its just a question at the moment of what are their responsibilitys under the law, surely they cannot just keep it and ignore me? that seems like theft? as I say its been mine for 5 months and then returned as it broke, its not the same surely as if they had not fulfilled an order etc.
Your best bet is to retrieve the thing from MicroDirect if you can.
Then use the 3yr warranty provided by the manufacturer. It does seem like they have indeed been sold.

Consumer direct got back to me this morning, they have checked with company house and there is not record of a break in trading for them, they have said that as they were taken over and still trading under the same name, site and kept the customer base etc and never actually went out of business then they are still liable for sorting my problem as they are still the same company, being owned by someone different does not give them an excuse to ignore their responsibility. Now I have to write a letter and give them 7 days to fulfil my resonable request, if they fail that then they will gear it up a notch.
Cheers all.0
