  • Alec & Chickens - thanks, you've made me giggle and hit a few things straight on the head!

I wish my DP had taught me more about budgeting/money etc when I was younger - I probably wouldn't have appreciated it but I just didn't have a clue when I 1st moved out which is why I ended up in such a mess (all my own doing, not trying to blame them for my over-spending).

My last remaining luxury is my (basic) Sky package - I did without it for around 6 years when I was trying to pay everything back and when I became debt free, it was my treat to myself. (I don't go out, drink, smoke, have take-a-ways etc so for £5/week - after working hard etc etc).

However, recently, I'm thinking it may need to go again:( - having finally decided that moving to a smaller place would be good (the pros outweighed the cons) unfortunately the houses just aren't shifting around me.

There's 3 on the market the same as mine, one hasn't shifted for a very good reason (but no-one looking will know that) and the owners have just reduced the price by nearly £30k:eek:.

They've owned the house from new so it's probably still a lot more than they paid but unfortunately I just can't afford to take that kind of hit.:(

So.... looks like I'll be staying put until at least next spring - but belts will need to come in again with fuel/utilities/food etc going up so much and .... the Sky is really the only "non-essential" I have as it is ..... but ......

rising from the ashes - I've been trying to move for almost a year now, the market is really slow and prices are dropping, which means no one is selling unless they really have to, so there is nothing available where I want to go. I am hoping it picks up next year.

I had a sort of frugal birthday today - spent £20 in pri mark, on a reduced jacket and a top, just treats! Had a free pimms at Pitch er and thingy (voucher in this weeks email from Martin) and lunch at the same place for £6.50, with a glass of wine, went to the library, used a voucher cloud voucher to get 2 dvd's for the price of one so we are going to watch Freaky Friday in a moment and have fish fingers and chips - pavlova from a friend for pudding :)

    Morning Peeps

Sorry to all those who can't sell their house.

In sort of the same position as can't sell my house that I owned before I moved in with DH. My only option was to rent it out which has been hard going at times. Everyone thinks it is great we have two houses but in reality it is having two mill stones round your neck. One missed rent payment and I start sweating! The tenant in there at the moment stopped paying the rent for three months as she had no money, however she still paid for a full sky package, got married and went on hols  she is up to date now but I still balance on a knifes edge!

A friend of mine always tells me "if your not living life on the edge you are taking up too much room"

I have a busy weekend ahead. Summer Ball tonight which they changed to day at the races at last minute :mad
Hat £5 from CS dress £3 CS and shoes Ebay £10 brand new from D perkins, including postage. I still need a ribbon which I have left until the last minute so will probably spend all day searching now:( ticket paid for in advance so all drinks and food paid for (must take a huge doggy bag :rotfl:) Especially for the cake room .........yes a room filled with JUST CAKES!!!!

Saturday, may fit in a jumble sale if not laying on the sofa saying never again :rotfl:

Sunday....off with the kiddie winks to watch Mr Potter. Will have to find my extra large bag to take own pop and sweets :o

Had a "secret vote" on the kittens last night, everyone got to choose two of the kitten and put their vote in a bowl. I wrote all the names so we could not tell the handwriting. After the winners were announced the boys felt bad for the two who lost and now won't leave them alone :rotfl::rotfl:

I hope everyone has some lovely weather today

    Happy belated Birthday, Tumpty! _party_

(Sorry but I was offline when you posted the news.)

The kittens are divine (and I'm a dog person).
