I like the bit in the OP that suggests finding other uses for some toiletries. For example I don't have a lot of shampoo but I have tons of showergel so when I run out of shampoo, I'm just going to use the showergel until thats gone too and use diluted conditioner in a spray bottle as leave in conditioner so my hair doesn't dry out, then the conditioner will last longer too. I also used some of my shower gel as bubble bath today and I couldn't believe the bubbles that it made, I didn't think it would work as well as bubble bath. I can't have baths without bubbles lol, so that's another way to use up my shower gels. I've been using up some of my less favoured body butters on my feet, as I noticed my foot lotions didn't seem to make any difference. So I use them with my Body Shop moisture socks that I got half price in the last sale.

Does anyone have any other ideas about other uses for toiletries you already have?

My most common other uses are:
    • Shampoo as shower gel (though i have tons of shower gel, just really want to get rid of a big shampoo bottle!)
    • Shampoo to wash makeup brushes (If it's good enough for my hair, it's certainly good enough for the brushes)
    • conditioner as shavel gel
    • any moisturisers I don't like so much on my hands and feet (which might explain why my hand creams take so long to UU)
    • Hand creams I don't like so much on my feet

Fixx - it's nice to see you back again! What does it say about toiletry prices / selection in Switzerland that we're both on this thread and have to cart suitcases of the stuff back from Blighty?!

Indeed! Though I've started buying a little more here as lugging it all around is a little annoying, and I like travelling with just hand luggage a lot of the time :)

To be fair though, all I've bought here so far is some toothpaste, nail polish remover (definitely a lot more than my usual 99p stuff from boots!), facewipes for about £4 , and hairdye for about £10 )

It's not just the prices though, there are some things I just can't find here! I miss Boots :(

I went into the local Body Shop here today as they have a sale on. Wait for it... Body butters on sale were 12francs. At current exchange rate that's £9! On sale!!!! I think it was a 50% sale too. Nope, not shopping there!

On the plus side I still have 4 and 1/2 body butters in stash :)

Hi there, nothing useful or intelligent to say but I'm stuffing my face (chocolate beetroot cake- yum!) and having my lunch break (at home- I have to factor in break times or I forget to stop). I've done lots today so feel happy to have a nice long lunch but I will have to interrupt it to hang out the washing.
It's a lovely day here so tonight we all get to sleep in lovely clean line dried sheets. I won't tell you when I last washed the bedding, suffice to say, it wasn't last week :o! Am making the most of seeing the sun and the bottom of the wash basket yesterday. Enjoy your day everyone :D

Hope everyone is having a lovely sunny afternoon. Have managed to finish up loads of bits in the last couple of weeks, as follows. xx

Elle Mac Bare Hand Cream - WIBA? - No way, hated this stuff, dont think I actually like anything from her range!

Batiste Tropical Dry Shampoo - WIBA? - Yep always do, dont mind any of the scents apart from the Rosey one.

No 7 Exceptional Definition Mascara - WIBA? - No think I got this because I had a voucher, and a free palette. Strange shaped brush, not a fan.

Rimmel Mousse Bronzer in Light Glow - WIBA? - No dont think so, quite a nice product but went a strange consistency!

Max Factor Lash Extension Effect - WIBA? - Maybe but its not a favourite.

Stila Lash Boost - WIBA? - Dont think so it just clumped my lashes.

Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow - WIBA? - No was really disapointed in this. All it did was crease, and was no use as a base.

Benefit Silky Eyeshadow - WIBA? - Maybe at the right price. Had this in the colour Fishnets. Really lovely deep brown colour.

Palmers Coconut Oil Formula Shampoo - WIBA? - No this made my hair into a frizzball.

Britney Spears Curious Showergel - WIBA? - No think I got this in a gift set with the perfume, and too be honest its rubbish!

Supermax Ultimate Shave Gel - WIBA? - Yes its just a cheapy from Mr.T's but it does the job.

Tigi Catwalk Fashionista Shampoo&Conditioner (750mls) - WIBA - Yes I love this stuff, it lasted ages, and I managed to get them brand new from Ebay for under £8 for both including P&P!!

Boots 17 Maximum Volume Mascara - WIBA? - Probably not its ok, but not great.

Collection 2000 Collagen Curl Mascara - WIBA? - Yes its pretty good for the price.

Cream to Powder Blusher in English Rose - WIBA? - Dont think so I dont actually know what brand this is from, as it was from ebay.

Elizabeth Arden Refining Toner Lotion - WIBA? - No used this once and then threw it, as it was like putting nail varnish remover on my face!

Olay Anti Wrinkle Firming Day Cream - WIBA? - Yes really liked this, but was too rich for my skin during the day in the summer, so used it at night. Would be fab for winter.

Lee Stafford Colour Love Shampoo - WIBA? - Yes if on offer, do like his products they smell amazing!

Avon Clearskin Correcting Lotion - WIBA? - Yes without doubt.

    Hi everyone

Hope you are all having a good day.
    Two UU's:

Decleor Aromessence Neroli Night Balm 15ml. WIBA? Well, yes it is lovely but I prefer the Iris one which I am opening now. I have always got these balms as part of a QVC TSV and have no idea of the cost of them individually but they last ages, you only need a tiny amount for your whole face, and you really see a difference in your skin the next morning.

Decleor System Corps Rich Body Lotion 50ml. WIBA? I have one left in my stash but it was so hard to squeeze out of the tube I had to decant nearly all of it into a tub. It didn't last very long, was pleasant enough to use but was nothing special so when the next one has gone will not repurchase.

In the paper on Saturday they listed best beauty products for under £10 it was very interesting and I might next try the Neutrogena Norwegian formula dry skin body lotion. Has anyone on here tried it and is it any good?

Loads of people have posted their own lists aswell.
  • Afternoon all!

    Two OUTs for me:

The Body Shop Ice Blue Shampoo - WBA as it smelt nice and got my hair really clean, but have far too much shampoo to repurchase just yet!
Boots Cotton Wool Pads - WBA as they do the job well in terms of applying toner and taking off nail polish.

    Evening all

I have one UU and a swap today :)

UU - 1 x Charles Worthington Moisture Seal Leave In Conditioner 50ml - WNBA as a conditioner, didn't like my hair, so ended up using it as a shaving balm! Really good for that!

Swap - I'm doing my first swap on the Facebook page, swapping 2 eyeliners for some mini BS Pink Grapefruit bits :)

    Hello all,
Hope everyone had a good Monday.

    UUs for me:

Anna Sui Secret Wish perfume. WIBA? Yes, I liked this, sad to see it finished. This was a gift a couple of years ago. Just re-found the body lotion so using that just now.

Bath and Body Works Shea Cashmere hand cream WIBA? I bought this in the US a couple of years ago, lovely stuff. Wish I had bought a body cream instead takes me years to finish a hand cream. Finished this off on my feet though.

Avon Black Cherry and Nutmeg shower gel. This was in my swimming bag (has been for a while) thought i'd use it up now, as i haven't got the time to go swimming for a while. WIBA? Nice enough, trying others first though.

Simple Spotless Skin Quick Fix wipes WIBA? Possibly not, was a bit dissapointed with them, made my face a bit stingy, hoped they might help my million spots at the moment. :( Having skin issues at the moment. Spots and dry skin, not a good combination.

One free hotel soap. I always take these if I stay somewhere, can be handy to have.

    Now for the naughty step.

    Ins:
2x BS Wild cherry soap (one already in use)
1x BS Wild cherry shower gel
    1x BS Almond shower gel
1x BS Wild cherry body lotion
My body shop lady is so nice, she gave me a love your body card for £1.30 in a deal they had, and pointed out I had 2x £10 off £25 spends (Must refrain!), and gave me the last cherry SG in the shop. BUT! Cherry range is being discontinued!! Only to appear at sale times. :( Glad I've stocked up ;)

5 in 5 out. Ohh well.

    One out:

Dentyl PH Mouthwash - Only an out because I tasted it and it tastes weird. Not sure if that's because I've got used to the Listerine mouthwash taste or because the mouthwash is off. I'm not even sure how long I've had it but I threw it out just because it tasted weird and watery. I like to take no chances. ;)
WIBA? - Yes. I've had it before and I like that you can see all the stuff in your mouth it gets rid of (gross I know but at least you know it's working :p).

Anyway, one spluttering (well kinda. It's in a jar :p) - Johnson's Dreamy Skin Nightime Moisturiser. I love that stuff. :D

  • Another UU today!
BS Black Velvet Apricot body scrub
WIBA? Probably not, This one was from Christmas 09 and I had to force myself to finish it off. Don't think it's that scrubby really. On to my S&G Breakfast Scrub now!

Also swapping with FlutterbyUK25 for 2 eyeliners :)
  • Evening all,
2 ins for me at the weekend, due to InStyle BS giftcard. I got the Rainforest moisture conditioner and the Hair Butter for £2. The hair butter smells gorgeous but isn't actually very moisturising, sadly.
