Holidays and JSA.

I was on JSA years ago and I had a holiday booked to scotland, I informed my local jobcentre who told me that as long as they had a contact number for where we were going and I was willing to cut short my holidat if a job came up then I could sign on before I left and on my return. I even looked for jobs in scotland and would happily have moved there had I found 1 as I could have stayed with a relative till I got myself a place to live. Keep checking online for jobs, ring them, apply online etc and there shouldn't be a major problem.
Enjoy the wedding!
P.s. My apologies if there is bad spelling, its late and I'm on my blackberry.0 -
Cheers guys. We collected a holiday form each a few days ago (were treated rudely and unprofessionaly, but that's another story... And not exactly surprising as it happens almost every time we're there) and are away to hand them in this afternoon.
They say we're willing to search for work, explains the ways we'll do so and that we'll come home with 24-48 hours notice. Hopefully there shouldn't be a problem.0 -
can you not set it so you sign up thereReplies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. If your reply cannot be nice, has an underlying issue, or you believe that you are God, please post in another forum. Thank you0

Apparently we can, yeah, but we'd need to claim holiday for being away for just over a week anyway so thought this'd work too. Hopefully it all goes smoothly and we don't wish we took the other route.0

Just incase anyone is curious or is in a similar situation - they granted us our holiday leave with absolutely no problem at all. Service with a smile (after being passed between departments a few times, admittedly!) and, as long as we agreed to look for jobs while away, come back if requested and ensure we are contactable, there is absolutely no problem. Scheduled to sign on the day after we get home, and was generally a quick and painless exercise. Feel silly for worrying now!0
