Brilliant, I was hoping that'd be an option. I'll definitely suggest that when we go in, then.
if you want to sign on at the nearest jobcentre where you will be staying yo can do so via a ES90 form.
you would have to mention it when you go in next before you go away (i think you said it was the 8th?) , as they have to make a note on the system stating that you have asked & that they are ok with it.
when you go to the other jobcentre & advise them of what you're there to do, they will contact your normal JCP office and ask if they are aware of you being away etc. (its not personal, they just have to double check in case anyone was getting into a pattern of signing away & possibly working etc), they will then sign you, and do the normal stuff, checking jobsearch etc, then the ES90 form would be faxed over to your jcp - and then followed up by sending the coupon to the other jcp also.
i hope that helps, and I hope you all have a lovely break.

Just clarifying so I know I've got it right (it's late!) - when we next sign on, we ask for an ES90 and explain that we'll need to sign on when we're away. We then take that form with us to the JC in Scotland, and can walk in as if we were at the one here? And just give them the ES90, and they'll then phone our local JC?
Is the protocol the same between JC in Scotland and England? And if we do this, does it mean we don't have to worry about a holiday form, or do we need to do that in addition because we'll still be away?
Thanks!0 -

hi,
they wont give you the form, if you go to them when you sign on, explain that due to your mum getting married that you will be away for a few days, but that you will be looking for work as normal, and that you would be happy to sign on in the jcp nearest to where you will be if possible (i really dont know if it will be any diff as its in scotland)
if they wont accept that, and say you will need to complete a holiday form, then go with that. only thing to be aware of with holiday forms, is that you will have to attend the office to sign on the day (or day after, depending on the time you get back) you return home, and it wil be at that signing that they will release your benefit as normal, but obviously it will take 2/3 days to reach you. i.e.: if you sign on a monday - your get benefit on thursday, so if the day you attend after the wedding is not on you normal signing day, then the day you will receive your benefit will change also. just with you saying a lot of your bills were on direct debit.

OP, you can just go to the jobcentre (ring them first) before you go, call in, fill in the form, explain you are available, leave a phone no, and state you can still search for jobs, and will come back for interviews.
You then go back in on your first day back, and sign on, and yes it will impact your payments slightly, but you should not have any problems doing this.0 -
Okay, thanks everyone

Probably all this has been said but this is what I personally do as my parents take me and my daughter away on a holiday in the uk each year and i am on jsa.
Ask for a holiday form, when you fill it in it asks if you are available for work etc as previosly said, it also asks if you will be actively seeking work etc and how - obviously internet etc, are you actually away for a signing day because if not you dont have to go through all this.
if you are away for a signing day then fill in the form hand it in beforehand then you also need to make a missed signing appointment although it is all official you still need this for them to issue your payment.
You are allowed to have 2 weeks off in the uk and not actively seek work as well it states this on the holiday form you fill in but not sure quite how it works
good luck and enjoy the wedding x0 -
You do have to complete the form whether or not you will miss a signing0

couldnt agree with this more, if you dont do the form, and somehow it comes out (the world is a small place) it's not worth the trouble.
you arent doing anything wrong by having a few days away to see your mum get married. i know its easier said than done, but dont worry so much about it. :beer:Please be nice to all moneysavers!

Yes we'll be missing our signing day unfortunately. Should we just set up an appointment for the day we get back? So our payment will be late? (Don't mind that, just wondering)0

Just speak to them when you sign on this week, and go from there.
