in Credit cards
I received quite a presumptuous letter from my papal credit card asking if I am having difficulty paying them off, which I have done in full last week. In the letter thay say if I am having difficulty paying them I should call them on an expensive 0871 number! I'm sure that's going to help if your in trouble.

Well.. it costs money to have someone on the end of the phone to discuss things. I don't blame a CC for trying to recoup some of this cost from the phone number.
You don't have to call them. If you breach, they'll call you!0 -
or just use saynoto08700

Apart from the extortionate fees and charges for defaulting but also not forgetting the fees they charge the retailer for the privilege of accepting their card, and the interest the customer pays for the use of the card I'm sure that a couple of pence gratitude for the above wouldn't go amiss.0 -

Did you have a bad experience?0 -
yup he didnt pay them on timeDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

I think nearly all CCs will charge you fees for defaulting, avoid them by paying on time.
Other than 0% deals, interest is payable on CCs, or you can avoid it by always paying in full.
So basically whether you pay fees and interest is your choice.0 -

Also up to retailers - if they don't like having to pay for the "privilege" of accepting cards they could offer a discount for cash or not accept them at all.0 -

Learn to read, I've just paid them in full and never missed a payment ever. the reason I got the letter is because when your account becomes near its limit, they audit you. and because I pay them off annually I only pay the minimum each month. so don't jump to any conclusions in that condescending smug tone. there are people who genuinely having credit problems in this world who were at no fault of their own and then the banks destroyed their lives by unscrupulous immoral actions, this letter is just a small highlight of their unsavoury practices.0
