So sorry to hear you sounding so down in the dumps. I know only too well how soul destroying it can be when you are trying everything you can think of and still not getting anywhere.
You don't say what skills you have or what line of work you are looking to, but have you tried looking or bidding on https://www.peopleperhour.com? It might be something to tide you over until you get back on your feet.
Good luck with your search. And please see your GP, because you do sound very depressed (understandably so).0 -
Yes do speak to your GP. Other than the obvious 'quick fix' prescription drugs talking about it often helps.
You are not alone. Inform your local CAB of your extenuating personal circumstances.
The only other thing i could suggest is to persevere with saving your £20 per week as much as you can for the £90 DRO. - Crisis Loan and Community Care Grants are possibilities, talk to your CAB about this - they are a charity and may be able to make a small financial 'token' contribution towards it (if they have some spare change in their kitty). If you don't ask, you won't get. Chin up!Young At Heart and Ever The Optimist: "You can't sell ice to Eskimo."

Go to the G.P and ask for the details of local services that help with depression. Ring them up and ask if you can refer yourself or if the G.P needs to make a referral.Ask to see a worker and ask them to do a search on the Funderfinder package P.I.N for grants for you. A individual usually needs a referrer from a support agency.
Also ask the G.P or worker if there are any local funds/grants for people with mental health issues.
Look into also the credit union because they do low interest loans.0 -
Hi Saturnalia
There are charities/trusts that can help out by giving financial assistance. The CAB will have a book detailing them. Have you worked at all or have you been unemployed since leaving uni? Usually the charities/trusts have some kind of link eg being employed in the construction industry or being a member of a church. Could the charity that you volunteer for help out at all?
Good luck!0 -
Enquire about a discretionary housing payment too from the council, I have only just done it myself and wish I had known about it earlier! Don't have a decision yet but I'm hopeful.
I currently am topping up my rent £50 per month which is incredibly hard on £65 per week and trying to keep up with other financial commitments. Like you, all I want is job so I can back on top of everything and stop worrying every minute about money.
I absolutely agree with this.. this would free up some extra money every month if they agree to it so I would get down to your council first thing and enquire about it.
Try and stay positive, I know it's difficult but things will work out in the end. xxx0 -
It is so hard to stay positive and proactive when life gets like this. Problem being is it is what you need most.
You sound like you are being technical and practical with the temporary problems you face, which is pretty cool, and the way to handle it.
You are looking for and getting good advice.
On the jobs front, it is really fought out there, its not you!
You will get a job, be sure of it. It is inevitable!
Remember that the best stuff in life is free, the scent of a flower, a funny shaped cloud, the birds tweeting. Sounds fluffy, but it got me through. It is a hard fight, it is, but you will get yourself sorted.

Have you posted a SOA? You need people to look at your out-goings.
Are you spending any money you should not?
Cars? Pets? Clubs? Gym?

The other thing I forgot to mention was the local library. Are you near one? You can use the Internet access for jobhunting if your BB is going to be cut off and they have newspapers too. Although I've not that many jobs advertised in my local papers.0

£20 left after rent, that goes on food, £21 for the net and £30 for the phone per month. That's the lot.
Thanks for the suggestions everyone, will post a longer reply in a bit.Public appearances now involve clothing. Sorry, it's part of my bail conditions.0 -
Could you get a cheaper deal with the phone? £30.00 per month seems like a lot.0
