Utterly desperate

I don't really know why I'm posting, I guess I want to get this off my chest and hope someone reads, not sure how much anyone can help.
I'm at the end of my rope. I'm as skint as skint can be. I have £7 in my pocket and all of the money in the bank is earmarked for paying rent on Monday when my HB comes in.
My mobile (no landline) has been cut off and I got a letter today saying my broadband DD bounced at the start of the month so that'll be cut off soon too, and I have no money to pay either bill.
The CAB has my details to get me on a DRO but I can't scrape up the £90 to pay for it.
I've been unemployed for 3 months and am dedicated to job-searching, I apply for dozens of jobs every week but nothing has come of it so far. I need money desperately and want to work and earn it but can't!
I claim JSA & LHA, that's all I'm entitled to, and once the rent is paid I have £20 a week left. My savings have gone and I just can't cope living like this. Every day is such a struggle and a disappointment, I'm up early every morning and on the job-hunt by 9 at the latest and I keep looking all day, all I want to do is get up and go to work every day and bring in enough money to pay the necessities. There are plenty who would judge me as a dosser but I want to work more than they'd ever know.
I'm thinking the worst kind of thoughts as I'm running out of strength to carry on like this. I have so little money I can't meet up with friends and have no social life and have no partner, again as I don't get out there to meet people. I do charity work at a weekend and it's lovely just to get out of the house and talk to other people, it's the closest thing I have to a social life.
There doesn't seem to be anything to carry on for. I worked hard at school and uni and now it seems I'm unemployable anyway and in debt to boot, I've been single 10 years and celibate for 5 and that causes me pain but I can't change it, I can't force people to like me... what is the point of it all?

Public appearances now involve clothing. Sorry, it's part of my bail conditions.

Cant say much to help, but it can be very depressing looking for a job, can make your perseption of your self worth quite low
All I can say is it can only get better, and you only need to get back on your feet a little to open more doors up0 -
Please go and talk with your GP if your mood is so low.
I hope your circumstances pick-up and life improves for you.
Good luck and please make that call to your GP.Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0 -
Enquire about a discretionary housing payment too from the council, I have only just done it myself and wish I had known about it earlier! Don't have a decision yet but I'm hopeful.
I currently am topping up my rent £50 per month which is incredibly hard on £65 per week and trying to keep up with other financial commitments. Like you, all I want is job so I can back on top of everything and stop worrying every minute about money.
I can very much identify with what you're feeling though, I'm a bit of a hermit anyway but now I'm even more so, barely see or speak to anyone for days on end because I can't even afford bus fares to get to meet up with friends.
I agree that you need to speak to your GP though, you are sinking into a very dark place and need help to come out of it.
Good luck.0 -
Didn't want to read and run.
Can you ask for a crisis loan at all, to get the £90 to pay for the DRO?
If you take part in charity work at weekends, is there anyway that, that could lead to a job in the future at all?
Have you registered at all your local agencies for work as well as the job centre? You could ask them to give your CV a look over, make sure it's ok. Make sure you tell them that you volunteer, think transferable skills.
I agree with Ambiss, it can be soul destroying looking for work, and not even sometimes getting replies back from companies that you apply to.
Get an appointment at the doctors.
Good luck0 -
What area are you in and what type of work are you looking for?Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0

Defo go for a budgeting loan or community care grant for the £90, can they not put u on a training course. Or do a small college course that allows u to stay on benefits but also gives u a bursary ?0

You have to have been claiming income based JSA for 26 or more weeks to be able to apply for the above grants and loans.
I don't know about the training options though.0 -
Just wanted to say sorry your so down. A few things come to mind
that might be of help.
Look into free courses if your job seeking there are alot of courses open to you at various centres, maybe some are close to you, use this even if just to get out the house.
nhs does a lifestyle link which gives info on free exercise classes and weight watching in your area perhaps. look into anything else that the nhs might offer you with regards to help counselling etc.
try entering loads of comps to give you some prizes to sell perhaps to make a little extra money, do surveys, etc etc lots of tips on here.
walk around your local town, saw advert on a dry cleaners door the other day for a job which i havent seen advertised.
see if there are any other benefits you can get.
See if any of your family and friends need work doing in exchange for goods or whatever.
The sun is shining im sure opportunity will be with you soon.
take care0 -
