Noisy neighbour

Hi there , I wasn't sure where to post this so please move if it's in the worng place.

We've finally got completed and moved into our lovely new house three weeks ago.

All is fab apart from the fact our neighbour is horrendous. So far we have music blasting through our house all day, it's so bad that I can't hear my own television, my three year old daughter has heard the neighbour in her back garden discussing how much cannabis she is smoking and then anytime between 11pm and 2am we are woken up with the noise of her and her man friend having sex!! It goes on for hours and is then followed by them arguing.

She also treats her youngest son very badly and we frequently hear her screaming at him, she has also sent him round to our house and the other neighbours asking for a pint of milk.

I really don't mind neighbours making noise, but this is beyond a joke. Not good when my little girl is awoken aswell and is asking what the noise is!!!

I know that the house is rented and that things of other neighbours have been stolen by her eldest son.

I tried to speak to her the first week we moved in, and she compeltely ignored me.

What do you all think is the best course of action? I reallyy don't want to cause trouble with my neighbour, but it really isn't funny anymore

    If you are concerned about her child, report your concerns to the Social Services. Keep a diary of any noise-related incidents involving this neighbour.

    U can obviously call environmental health about the noise nuisance but have to be aware that this could cause the neighbour to be even more troublesome. Its a bit late in the day now for you.., but I am a great believer in knocking on doors before i move anywhere and asking what the neighbourhood is like.

    That's a horrible situation to be in. The obvious solution is for her not to be your neighbour anymore. If you approach this situation head on, things will get worse before they get better, and in some cases much worse and never better!
    On the other hand, if you approach the situation covertly, not playing by the rule book... They say it's much easier to get what you want, when it's the same thing as the other party wants! If she doesn't want to live there anymore, she won't!

    anytime between 11pm and 2am we are woken up with the noise of her and her man friend having sex!! It goes on for hours and is then followed by them arguing.

    This made me smile & hopefully means the 'man friend' will be dumped shortly which will make for quiet nights. :D

    Definately keep a log of everything, noise, child concerns etc. All valuable 'just in case'.

    Do you know who the house is rented from? Might be worth trying to find out & having a word with them first?

    I find it amazing that someone can write something noncomprehensible but use the english language lol.

    I assume the poster means run the neighbour out of their house? Or do they? Hence the reason for the nonsensical post.

    So you've bought your property...?
    Don't sellers have to declare problems like that these days on the sellers forms?
    One of my friends has an acoustics company and deals with problems like these - he measures the noise when things are going to court and things like that. He also used to be in environmental health so knows about the legal side. Will ask him what he thinks if you like...!

    I think you only have to declare something if there has been an actual dispute. If the previous owner just put up with it without complaint I don't think they have to say anything. Could be wrong though.
    It's someone else's fault.
