the front and back garden has been completely stripped of weeds from good old fashion hands. now I just have a strip of soil. Shall I now use glyphosate?

Pointless if you dont have weeds. It gets absorbed by the leaf system. Its supposed to be inert by the time
    it reaches the soil.

so if glyphosate is "pointless" acording to the op, is there any "preventitve" measures one could take before the weeds return?

hello all, I need a good and reasonable priced weed killer for a small front and back garden, any ideas?
    Which weeds? Annual? Perennial?

I inherited a "jungle" of weeds (basically, 1/4 acre of land, 1/3 sectioned off and left to rot/weed haven!); year 1 (aka 12mths ago): application by 3rd party of a "weed killer" = great result :)
Spring this year: all regrowing at a rate of knotts! (Brambles/nettles/"sticky buds"/UFO [unidentified fauna objects]/annual weeds)
3mths ago: applied weed killer (with glyphosate, to tackle nettles/branbles) = little/no effect
Past 2mths: careful and meticulous weeding/root digging/back aching hard work. = fingers X'd!!!
If the old adage of "one year's seed = 7yrs weeding" is correct, at my guestimate, I'm going to be weeding until hell freezes over :(:(:( (and with climate change, that could be a very, very, very, very, very, looooooooong time!)
