by the time i bought the freeview box and speakers i might as well just get a small tv, its only for the kitchen

Agreed. You could get a Dell sound bar for your monitor quite cheaply (£13) instead of speakers http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Dell-AX510-Speaker-Soundbar-Dell-TFT-Monitor-Boxed-New-/150495755064?pt=UK_Computing_DesktopComponents_RL&hash=item230a3efb38 but you'd still have to get a Freeview box.
