    Evening all,
Spent £30.50 in Lidl, on veg, fruit and other bits. Yogurts were good value this week.
Then spent £32 on meat in Mr T's, which did include 4 x £12 meats, 2 x steaks, 2 x bacon and 1 x finest beef for Sunday lunch, which will do us butties all week, and other bits.
On target, but not much to spare! Noticing a difference with the kids being off School, much more expensive entertaining and feeding them!
Working tomorrow, so really Monday before I do battle again! Good luck to all for keeping in budget!!!!
    Sally.

aRGGH more spends! Gone a whopping £103.63 over budget so far. Still, an experimental month for us. Change of circumstances means I'm cooking for more than I've been used to over the years.. normally 6 adults most days. Working out what others can eat is tricky, too. Some just picky but others have genuine reasons.

Decided to keep the food simple and traditional next month and scan the recipe threads for economical meals. Need to get this sorted as its still not unusual for DH to be chasing his wages for weeks. Sometimes they're short, one month nothing went in. :(
We have a little put by but would rather be prepared for mishaps out of our day to day money.

Am slowly working through the freezer and cupboards eating the foods that have been saved. The idea is that bySeptember each year the cupboards/freezers/stocks are freshened up and those things that have been lurking too long get priority in the menu plans.
Then I have room to restock for the winter months. :T Love my winter foods. :p

Waiting for Mr A to bring my online shop, have used Mr S with not much luck so thought I would give Mr A another try as he was nice enough to give me free del, but 2 hour time slot not good, have to go out at 10am and slot is 8am-10am.

On the upside still had a bit of a lie in and and have peeled and chopped all pots and veg left in fridge for tea, washed up and put dishwasher on.

But no doubt if I start doing a cooked breakie he will turn up! Waiting on meat to put in slow cooker

Seeing as I completely lost track of all spend before our holiday but now want to reign it in for rest of month, could someone please change my target to £80 (this is for 2 weeks), I had previously put it at £190.

    Thanks

haven't set a target for this month but keeping track....

out of interest, does anyone know if i can freeze lemons as they are ? and also, I made a lemon drizzle cake this morning - I have just had a little taste and think I overdid it with the dark chocolate - I used the green and blacks and its a bit overpowering :( (what do other posters use?)

I was also wondering whether i would be able to freeze the cake - i think I have overdone it with the lemon drizzle - not completely sure - the cake isn't completely cool yet but I know I don't want to find myself having to eat a whole cake in a few days and was hoping i could instead have a little slice now and again hence freezing it. Me and baking don't exactly go well together.....

I've frozen lemon slices before and usd in drinks. I've also grated rind and frozen it and frozen the juice separately.

Re lemon drizzle cake - no idea re choc - have never done choc & lemon drizzle. However, cake freezes very well :D:D Although usually doesn't get chance to in our house!:rotfl::rotfl::o:o

Oh dear certainly not gonna come below budget this month, been to Mr A this morning and spent more than I would have liked about another £48 although I did buy nappies and pull ups that probably won't be needed til next month but as they were on offer seemed a bit silly not to get them. I am having a Mr S delivery on Tuesday and then will need bread milk fruit and veg to see us to the end of the month so still hoping not to go too far over. On a plus note I take my grandmother shopping as she can't manage herself and my DD (think she is secretly my grandmas favourite out of 9) managed to convince her to buy fruit shoot type drinks, some chocolate iced gems, 6 sausage rolls, a four pack of cakes, a bag of apples and a big bag of podded peas, my D really does get spoilt off her. Will update sig when I chek exact amount on the receipt.
