AOL & IP Addresses - This Affects All AOL Users

Howdy ho
I have a favour to ask of anyone who uses AOL broadband - would you kindly visit this link and post back here whether it classes your IP Address as a UK, or a US one? My IP address is an US one originating from Washington DC, which has implications for content such as the BBC broadband site and other UK content providers who use IP addresses to limit access.
I ask because...
I've just been on the phone to AOL for about 40 mins (through their 0800
) once again, regarding my IP Address originating from the USA (Washington DC to be precise). This means I'm limited in terms of content from BBC News etc. but for the first 15 minutes I had to explain to the tech guy how an IP address works and how I had found my IP Address in the first place. Then I had to prove that AOL were aware of the problem by emailing him a transcript of a Live Help conversation. That soon shut him up
though he did come back after a few mins and whilst offering 'his sincerest apologies' said that he 'was not aware of the problem'. So, I asked him to look at my account notes and find the exact same query from 5 weeks back where again they promised it would be resolved within a week. Was it? No. He claims that this is because AOL assigns UK users a UK IP address, but when this pool runs out, they then give out US IP addresses, though this doesn't explain why I get the same IP address over and over again... But they assure me it will definitely be resolved within the next week... in fact I've just spoken to someone in Customer Service who has ever so kindly arranged for a one-off callback from a Senior AOL Engineer who will be 'sparing his precious time' to talk to me and resolve my IP Address issue.
I still have my MAC Code for leaving AOL but to be honest, I can't find a provider for £9.99 per month without a ridiculous usage limit
if I could find one I'd be off like a... erm, a thing that moves extremely quickly.
Hope to hear from you AOL broadband users out there and thanks in advance

the second website gives me london, although i used to be with aol on dial up, and i have a dim and distant memory that they route everything via america being an american company. Which was also how they managed to kick start the whole 0800 number access by bypassing BT. I might be wrong on bits of this, it was a while ago!
maybe now aol are owned by talk talk in the uk, it might change.
On a plus note some of the US tv channels put their shows online, but you only watch if you have an american ip number. So you could make use of those instead!0 -
Im on AOL as you know Crabman and it says im in US of A, BTW there is a whisper that Silver is being upgraded to 2mb early next year.0

The first says I'm in Washington DC US.
The second says "Reston Virginia US"
Which sure is news to me!
Teleported?Hey O, Listen What I Say O.0 -
nothing to do with aol, but that first link says I'm in Iran (Tehran, to be precise). So do other lookupsI've tried. The second one says I'm in the uk, ip reassigned to bt broadband customer, which is correct. I'm using bt satellite broadband. Looks like the second is more accurate.0

AOl have some proxies which can provide you with a UK IP address.
HTTP proxy uk.proxy.aol.com Port: 80
SSL Proxy uk.proxy.aol.com Port:443
