£366 to north america is the best I've seen for a while.

£644 for premium economy + 25k miles gets you in business both ways to NYC - totally fantastic deal :)

£1493 for premium economy + 50k miles gets you business all the way to australia - not to be sniffed at

And that's the killer. On many routes the redemption availability is virtually zero. I have 150,000 BA miles in my account waiting for something to do with them.

The 25k upgrade for US routes is especially good value if you are a Silver or Gold member as you get most of the miles back as tier bonuses. As a Silver you would get around 17k miles for the round trip so it would only cost you 8k miles

I've never not been able to get the redemption I've wanted - I think the key is just to be flexible on dates and plan slightly in advance.

I can see redemption to NYC throughout the dates currently covered by the sale (as an example).

I was recently looking at redemption to australia, and could find flights on every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday throughout the month (granted a year ahead of time).

Recently burnt 80k on two MFUs to business out to China and Japan, and 150k on two First redemptions to north america - both booked about 4months ahead of travel!

640 quid into New York and out of Miami in October in Economy. Worst sale ever? I nearly booked the same tickets with VA last week at £431 until they announced strke action.

Might want to play with your dates as I'm seeing much cheaper than that (picking random dates in Oct).

May wish to consider taking advantage of the £366 to NYC, then a separate return flight within the US.

  • The sale is great for exotic once in a lifetime destinations too if any MSEer is planning such a trip!
I've just booked an open jawed ticket flying to Rio and back from Buenos Aires for £685 all in, however going through netflights (who were cheaper than the BA webpage). Its the trip I've been saving for all year! :j
