When the banking shares are sold at a huge profit will you still be complaining then?
Think of it more as an investment with a guaranteed return rather than spending money. Which ever party are in government when the shares are sold will have plenty of cash to spend.
The finacial crisis was engineered by the banks and with cooperation from compliant politicians the tranfer of debt to the tax payer bail out saved the banks. The % that the government owns of the banks; is this a straight percentage of overall value; or is it a specific part of the value, ie. toxic waste mortgages and securities that are doomed to failure and not realise any profit(apart from the fees and initial interest which the banks have already taken and given in bonuses). So when the banks are back in profit it makes no difference to the assets(liabilities) that the government paid them 100% on the £ for, they will still be worthless.(always the detail is in the small print) Where did the trillions come from, where did they go? If you think this is going to be a huge bonus for the public purse to improve the lives of the masses, enjoy your life with Santa as next door neighbour, the tooth fairy as the shop keeper on the corner and the three little pigs as your local paper boys.
The government baulks at finding a few million for reasonable priced education but dismisses a £6billion tax bill give away to a communications giant corporation as small change not worth collecting. See where the priorities lie.
There are two parties in British politics. The party for the rich elite and the party for the populace. Rich elite party is...... the party in power; the populace party is ...... the party in opposition. It makes no difference the name of the party it is the position that dictates their policy presentation.main stream media is a propaganda machine for the establishment.0 -

Just look what the cuts are used for, so more tax money can be transferred to pay the banking sector.
Perhaps you've not heard that 15,000 Lloyds bank workers are getting made redundant? Do you think they shop at Harrods?
The country is facing hard times, i don't think it unreasonable for civil servants to face some of the pain.
If all these public servants feel hard done by they could always join the private sector?0 -
Yesterday, going into the city centre, I was faced with hundreds of these people striking. All they did was got in my way, and made lots of noise with whistles and vuvuzelas (some blowing them into my sons face) & drag their kids out in the rain.
Any idiot that thinks that the best way to go about getting more money is to interrupt kids' education deserves nothing.
If they don't like it, there are other jobs.0 -
Ah the days of strikes are full of bliss again-Reminds me of my teenage days as a postman
:) for 2 reasons
1)every so many months the unions would vote for a strike and the majority would follow like cattle
2) Fun days going into work over the picket line in the back of a royal mail truck undetected and better overtime rates alsoyes i was a scab but a scab who's monthly pay was boosted from working more hours when everyone else was skint from returning from work after striking
I miss me teenage dayssuch fun
Christ you're easily pleased.Oh come on, don't be silly.

completely agree about the race to the bottom - This isn't a competition to see who can take the most pain. We should all be looking beyond the spin, media bias and seeing a govt that will screw the working class no matter what.0 -
Industrial action is good for community and national spirit.
I miss the winter of discontent, as a kid the power cuts were an ideal opportunity to shoplift the pick and mix in Woolworth's if you timed it just right as the lights went out.
Happy evenings grilling sausages around the brazier with the firemens picket, the excitement of the ancient Green Goddesses going out.

and likewise, those in the private sector who feel so bitter about the fact that they failed to take action to protect their own pensions/save enough towards their pensions out of their inflated pay (delete as applicable) could always join the public sector if they think things are so great. but I suppose its much easier to just bleat about it and insist everyone else be forced to suffer along with them!!!0 -

Let's argue about who hurts the most from this on going crisis. There are beneficiaries from this crisis, and if you think hard enough you will see that the beneficiaries are... the people who caused(engineered) the problem. And, the public is persuaded that it's their own fault and they must pay. Now together with controlled MSM the public is split into camps arguing with each other over which camp should be hit the hardest. All the while ignoring the causes, who caused them, and the who benefits from the wealth transfer up the pyramid.
Oh, "we are all in this together" .... The 95% are in it together to suffer for the crisis and the 5% are in it together with smoke and mirrors to baffle the 95%, and breath assured their lives as grasshoppers over the masses of ants is on course to get better. Pull the screen back, the wizard is just a man pulling levers, blowing whistles and releasing steam.

are public servants not meant to serve the public? it seems like they expect the private sector to pay more tax so that they can enjoy pensions that few private sector workers get.
you really think it right that shop workers etc on the minimum wage pay more tax for teachers to retire early?0
