John Lewis = good customer service, but 20, 30% more expensive on average compared to other places. If one is prepared to pay extra, then it's a great place to shop. And it's too posh for my liking.

john lewis equals the worst customer service ever :mad::mad: we bought a set of red sofas online (which we had initially viewed in a store). the material is not fit for purpose so lists of phone calls and emails. i was told at one point they would replace cushions only which i would not agree too as as they agreed then the colour would be different plus the bobbling etc is all over the sofas and not just on the cushions. they kept getting the nearest store involved even though it was an online purchase and in the end all they would agree too once store got involved - after agreeing in separate emails that it is faulty (hundreds of photos sent) and i needed two new sofas - was to pay for a thing to get bobbling off £5. they refused to come out to see the sofas even though it was booked and then they would cancel. anightmare from start to finish and we still have the faulty sofas so never ever ever will shop there again. i was sooooo upset by it all as i purposely bought from john lewis because of the good customer service plus we spent a year testing sofas to be on the safe side and get something we loved :(:mad::mad:

angel13, You can check the balance of your giftcard on line.
Go to Debenhams home page, scroll down to bottom of page and there is a big list. It's under 'shopping with us' giftcard balance, then you just type in the card number and it will tell you the balance. Hope that makes sense. x

If you can't find anything for the 5yr old or see anything within the price range left on the card treat yourself to a 'chocolate gift' :D that's what I always do :rotfl:

    Hi
sorry to read of your troubles with JL. We had some probs last year and I got so mad with the online customer services that I contacted HQ and left voice mail messages for one of the directors. In no time I had the head of cust services sorting out our problem and agreeing that the whole experience was not right. I pushed the fact that I expected better from JL and had shopped there for 40 yrs etc and was very dissapointed. The matter was soon sorted and the following day I recieved a call with an offer of compensation to restore my faith. I took the second offer. HTH Try going to the top. Good luck
