i do know that with avon as a rep it is classed as commission so you don't have to declare what you're earning
You have declare all your earnings, whatever their source. There is a catch all question on the tax return. If it's below a certain limit (£97.01 a week?) you are exempt from National Insurance (I think, but I'm not an expert).I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0 -
How about getting some bar work or waiting on in a restaurant.
You will get paid directly into your bank account but will make cash tips.
I waited on in a Harvester type restaurant about ten years abo and could make £40-£50 on a weekend night in cash tips!0 -
....Unless it's a Marriott you work in when they collect all your tips and give you them through the payroll, 22% thinner!! Grrrr....0

How about eBay...you can sell 7K (I think this is the amount, best to double check though) of your OWN personal belongings without declaring to HMRC. Obviously this rule doesn't apply if you're buying to sell on."Every time you feel yourself getting pulled into someone else's nonsense, tell yourself: Not my circus, not my monkeys." - Mark Borkowski.

pub/restaurant work and that way you get the tips in cash (most places dont pay tips with your normal money). The pubs I worked in kept the wages seperate ie paid tax and NI on the wages but tips were cash😁0

I agree with this. I have lost count the amount of people who do this kinda work to get by. From cleaning houses, to cafe's to behind the bar. Years and years. What about the odd window cleaner and builder who gets paid cash in hand and don't declare to the tax man. Now hands up how many of them do we all know ???
Wrong I know but I have worked for 22 years most of the time with 2 jobs and 2 lots of n.i. and tax. Now I have no qualms for people going out there and doing this.
Good luck to you all.:A Tomorrow's just another day - keep smiling0 -
Have you had a look at the Money for Nothing thread?
Loads of ideas there including the quite lucrative matched betting (Notice I only whispered this cos lots of people don't approve - but I believe its legally tax free too.)I have plenty of willpower - it's won't power I need.

Tax free it is- all income from gaming and lotteries is
Just a point from above - tips are taxable income and should be declared too.The early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese :cool:0 -

Not sure of the exact amount - but it the 'profits' you pay tax on under Capital Gains Tax which wouldn't affect a lot of people getting rid of junk if you are selling for less than you bought.
Buying to sell is trading though and all profits are taxable under income taxThe early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese :cool:0 -

Cleaning could be a good one, do you mean private homes? If so, how would you find this work without going through an agency?
