anybody have nice tasty ways of doing veg ? I hate the things but everybody keeps telling me how healthy they are, I feel like I should eat them....
If anybody can make a brussel sprout taste like sticky toffee pavlova then you can move into my hall cupboard, rent free for the rest of your life !:D

Do you eat fruit then? Salads? Tomatoes? How do you get your vitamins?
You could start by making vegetable soup, blended well so that the individual veg's aren't evident. Then try incorporating them into stews, casseroles, lasagnes etc.
What vegetables would you consider, and which are totally out of the question?I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

I dont eat much fruit, no. Just strawberries..I can eat mushrooms (are they veg ?) tomatoes, and yes I make pots of homemade soup, its the easiest way to eat veg. But I hear of people roasting veg etc and wondered if they taste nicer that way...I like fried food and don't mind grease...hate gravy and watery food. My health is rotten and I need to eat better, so xmas is a good time to start..:A0

Boil the sprout for 10 to 12 minutes in lightly salted water, allow to cool, dip in honey and then roll in flaked almonds.
Where do you live ?
Is the hall cupboard an "under the stairs" variety ?
Can I move in on Sunday only I'm looking forward to Xmas dinner and I'd hate to miss out.
Will it be traditional Turkey or are you going for Goose or Duck for a change ?
I don't mind either way but my Great Dane has a delicate constitution and rich food can give him the runs but don't worry he is house trained.
Hopefully see you very soon
Merry Xmas

You will just have to soldier on trying things. You will get used to it in the end. No wonder your health is bad LOL;)
Roasted veg is nice but dont over do the oil.
If you like sweet things then try butternut squash and sweet potatoes. They are delicious, and naturally sweet.
Mix something else in with mashed potatoes like Carrots, cauliflower or turnip. I can't believe you like turnip if you are otherwise quite fussy!
Get yourself some organic carrots because they really taste different and may win you over.
Best of luck:)Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

How do you cook your veg? My mum always used to boil the veg within an inch of their lives, and i never liked them. Now im older, and cook them myself, i find i like them better. i normally steam my veg, keeps a nicer flavour (even frozen veg), and things like cabbage, which i really hated, i now fry with butter, and it tastes so much better!!!!0

I've never seen the point of roasting veg myself (unless it's the parsnips around a turkey) as I'd think they would dry out. OH is veggie so we'd have no meat juices to baste them in anyway.
Cabbage is lovely actually - don't you like coleslaw? When you say turnip do you really mean swede? Turnips I thought were rather hard, tasteless things, but swede and carrot mash with plenty of black pepper and butter is gorgeous.
I appreciate we all have different tastes though. Yes mushrooms are veg, but I'm not sure how much fibre or nutrition is in them, they are more for flavour really.I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

Carrots cut into sticks and roasted in a little oil are lovely and sweet. My hubby is the same, he hates veg but also hates salad and fruits but he has been known to eat my roasted carrots0

Honey roast parsnips - loads of recipes for them, Nigella has one for maple roast parsnips which is here http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/database/mapleroastparsnips_84758.shtml and should be very similar.
I love brussel sprouts and broccoli so am not too bad at veg. Have you tried bubble n sqeak. mashed potatoes mixed with cabbage (or spring greens) and onion then fried. I haven't had that for ages but its really niceNever let your sucesses go to your head and never let your failures go to your heart.:beer:0
