Hi all,
I am currently on a Vodaphone SIM only £10pm SIM only contract, and as good a deal as it is (although I can't remember exactly what I recieve), I get lots of anytime anynetwork mins and texts, I am looking at alternative options.
Before this I was on O2 simplicity, which again was a very good deal for the mins and texts I recieved, but again I rarely used the bundle of texts/calls I paid for.
I don't need a phone, I am happy with the one I currently have.
I am only an occational mobile user, but I do need both calls and texts - yet currently I go nowhere near my text or call limit!(and I don't expect to - I have a great deal on my home phone contract for the calls I make and also use skype at home.
I am now looking in to alternative (and cheaper) options, but I also don't want to find myself in a situation where I have run out of credit when I really need it, such as in an emergency (which is my concern with PAYG).
I have looked at Giffgaff and they have a £5 per month SIM but it includes texts only and no calls.
If possible I would also like to keep the number I currently have.
Can anyone recommend any alternatives? What do other people use?
Thanks in advance for your comments/advice/recommendations,
D9

If you are an occasional user you need just basic PAYG without any min monthly amounts.
Giffgaff is only 8p/4p for calls/texts and there are others:MorrisonsEmployee wrote: »Tesco Lite - Calls 8p/Text 4p - http://phone-shop.tesco.com/tesco-mobile/help-and-support/call-charges-payg-litetariff.aspx

You could also look at £5.11/month for 100 mins and 100 texts with Talkmobile.
No longer advertised directly with talkmobile, but available via e2save
http://www.e2save.com/sim-only/contract/talk+mobile/Talk-Mobile-Simple-Pay-Monthly-SIM-Card.html?network=talk+mobile&tariffcode=ETX7SJUN09
Alternatively, Orange Monkey PAYG - top up £5 every month for 25 free texts, and use the £5 each month to buy a 100 minute extra, getting you 100 minutes and 25 texts for £5 a month. You will need additional credit for any other calls.0 -
Unlike other mobile operators GiffGaff allow you to call freephone numbers for free so you can also use 18185 from it via there 0808 freephone number see http://www.18185.co.uk/mobilerates.php
Which means you can make mobile calls for 6p a minute at weekends and landline 01/02/03 calls for 1p a minute anytime, plus cheaper 0845/0870 calls.
( 5p connection charge applies).0 -

Thanks I like the sound of the talk mobile option - I will try to find it.

EDIT: I have just taken a look at the talk mobile option, and it looks like it's the best option for me, a great find Stuart_W, I'm glad I asked on here - I would never have found it! Only question is are the inclusive texts and mins for anytime any network? It doesn't say this on the webpage at all (one way or the other). Does anyone use this network tariff?
Thanks again,0 -
I don't personally use them, but they are 100 standard any network texts.
