Well I'm now halfway through *The Secret* and I've been trying to keep positive all day.

On the school front, I've just had a call from the deputy head and she has said that DS will have a fixed term exclusion until the end of the term and then will be allowed to come back at the start of September term but that she will ask for an immediate review, but doesn't know when this will happen.

Basically exactly what the Education Officer said should happen has happened, and after speaking to her yesterday, I assumed that since that was the sensible action, then that would be what would happen.

Ok, I'm off to tidy up the lounge now and move all my papers from job hunting upstairs since I certainly wont need them over the weekend - want the lounge to look nice and tidy before OH comes home so it doesn't look like I've been sat on my backside all day...:rotfl:

Lovely day yesterday, in fact it was a bit like a Sunday. Some family are down from Scotland so we all met up and had what my DD would call a *party*. Even the OH said he enjoyed it ;)

My tax credits form cam in through the post yesterday and so to strike whilst the proverbial iron is hot I actually filled the form in on the same day which is pretty much un-heard of! I haven't managed to actually post it yet but as there is no post on a Saturday afternoon that rested well with me. I'll nip across the road later and do it - the envelope is waiting by the front door so I won't forget.

We treated ourselves to a take-a-way last night by way of a celebration. We haven't had one for months so it was a nice treat - completely full by the end of the night :rotfl: and then settled down to watch a film. Nice relaxing day, even managed to get some sewing in, and nearly finished a cardigan that I'm knitting. Plus my sister commented on my socks (hand-knitted) and has requested a pair for her birthday later in the year, so that sorts out one present :D

Last week I had the offer of an interim job for a 3 month contract and today, after my second interview I have a permanent job.

My positive thoughts obviously paid off, I have tried to consistently think positively and think of good things and what I want from the future, whilst banishing any negative thoughts - even to the extent that when I spoke to the chap at the agency after my interview, I said "When you ring me this afternoon to tell me that I have the job..." (I knew in advance that a decision would be made about the position today).

Right off to walk the dog and smile at anyone I see along the way.
  • Congratulations on getting THE job that you wanted. :T Permanent is always better than temporary but at the end of the day any money is better than JSA :)

I am in the throws of redundancy and my employers are trying to get out of paying me any redundancy money, I have managed to find another job which is temporary to cover maternity leave. But as my OH said its 8 months paydays....:)

I hope that the school is a little more accomodating with regards to your son and that you can enjoy the school holidays without spending it worrying about what the school will and won't do. From what you have said they have been a bit harsh, I do hope it works out for you and he can manage to stay at school.:)

Burntfingers, I'm sorry to hear about your redundancy. I agree 8 years worth of payments is a lot of money and is worth fighting for. Where I worked there were a large number of people who had worked there for 10+ years including several who have 25+ years service. For them they needed to do exactly what they were told (so to speak) so as not to jeopardise their redundancy payments due from the Government (since the company went into administration) as it is a lot of money...

I was in the position that I had only worked for the employer for about 20 months - the cut off is 2 years - after 2 years service you are entitled to redundancy from the Government but as I wasn't I figured that I just needed to do what I needed to do in order to get a job.

Well now that I haven't had to spend my days looking for a job and be available to take telephone calls, go out to interviews and also scour the internet for jobs, it has been quite productive.

Yesterday I managed to fix our toilet - it wouldn't flush and so a quick search of the internet and I managed to fix it (no idea what I actually did, but apparently it worked:beer:)
Today I have sanded down the windowsill in the lounge as it needs painting but the paint was flaking so it needed sanding down first so that it doesn't look like a crap job.

Me and the OH also cleared the garage out and took loads of rubbish to the trip which was just hanging around in the gararge - like two old mattresses and an old sofa.

The OH has ripped the carpet off the stairs, sanded them all down and is in the process of painting them. Fortunately he listened to me when I said that he needs to paint every other stair today and then the opposite tomorrow so that we can still get up and down stairs. First of all I know he didn't understand, then when it dawned on him he was like "oh thats a good idea"..... sometimes...... :T

Tomorrow is a case of painting hte windowsill for me and maybe getting some more door frames and skirting boards done, but if not, I'll do it next week when I wont have OH and DD (who's only 3 and wants to help paint...)

Just done an online survey that was only supposed to take 60 minutes (even thought 60 minutes is a long time it was for £2.50).

Unfortunately it took more like 90 minutes and the OH has decided to take DD to bed since I'm *busy*.

Oh well I'm now just 75p short of a £10 Amazon voucher so I guess I will leave it for tonight and do another one tomorrow (I have one waiting for me) since it will take some time for the points to actually be credited...

    On the list for today:

    1) Firstly I have two email addresses, one is from my service provider and the other is a gmail account. I want to change my service provider and therefore move all emails to the gmail account. Task today, to go through emails on the service provider account and change the contact details or unsubscribe where relevant. This will get the bulk of the task out of the way, then in another couple of weeks I can go through again any that have slipped through the net.

    2) Take DD out this morning to get some exercise and also buy MIL a birthday present and card (the OH will be doing the buying though!)

    3) Paint the windowsill in the lounge and depending on how much DD wants to help or not, make get some painting done upstairs.

Just having a cup of tea before we go out.... downloaded the "Freemind" mind mapping tool *free* and using it to enter all the rooms in the house and then plan all the jobs that need to be done in each of the rooms. Hopefully can then use this as a plan on what jobs need doing, cost of each and then prioritise.

Really pleased that I found this tool, looks like I can make everlasting and changing lists.
