Vodafone Family.....Issues

Hi
Im having a problem with my family vodafone service. I have used it many times as its a really good way to stay in touch but I have been off the service for several months. I restarted the service yesterday on my mobile phone, after several attempts it worked (very different from other times ive activated it). I had the service fee removed and told it would be 2hours for it to work. Both the other members of the group received txts and I havent, and we are all still being charged?
I tried contacting vodafone to no avail and I made sure I was able to receive txts.
I have never had this problem before and Im very upset that I am not able to phone but have already been charged?
can anyone help?
