Eggs are a good way to eat cheaply. One spud sliced and par-boiled, fried in a pan with a small onion, chuck in some random small veggie bits and anything else you have/fancy (tomatoes, meat bits), sprinkling of mixed herbs if you have/like them. Beat/pour 2-3 eggs over that lot (depends how big your pan is/what you've got in it). Chuck a load of grated cheese on top (cheap stuff, e.g. Morrisons do a bag of grated at £4/Kg, or keep any eye out for any cheese at £5/Kg or less).... then when the bottom's set, place the frying pan under the grill to brown the top.

Cost of that is 20-40p for the eggs, 20-30p for the other stuff. And it's enough for 3 meals probably - and can be eaten cold, or microwaved hot again later. Store in the fridge for up to 3 days (longer is probably OK too), or you can have a go at freezing it.

Can be eaten with a salad, or chips/beans.

    - Yes I approached 2 local allotments within walking distance and no one was willing to sell their veg. apparently against regulations of owning the allotment.

I found that allotments don't/can't sell their produce - which is why I talked about "barter". When I lived near an allotment I used to volunteer to help (dig, tidy up, water, whatever) or make finished goods with the produce (e.g. soups, pies, etc) and in return got "paid" with produce. (Deal was agreed beforehand!) That way, no regs are being breached & you get to make friends (sometimes!) in the process. HTH

Can I stick my oare in to recommend the 10p noodles [the 3 minute ones]. I lived off these when I was brassic - only they were 6p then.

You need 2 packs for a good meal. Fry onions/peppers/any other veg that you have lying around until they are all really well cooked; soak the noodles in boiling water for 3 mins. drain and add to the cooked veg [I know you don't do cooked veg but others might]...add some soy sauce - mix around for only a few seconds, to absorb the soy sauce. Serve with a knob of mayo on top.

We have this when we come back from our lottie and just want a fast meal - done and eaten in 20 mins if you cut the veg up nice and thin.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.
