Keep it. Box it up and seal it. Date it so if you ever need anything you can find it.

A lot of things like bank statements etc I'd only keep for six years.

Normally, 6 years. Any debt can be chased for 6 years. These days the utilities will chase any whiff of a possibility to allege a debt, so you need to keep stuff until any debt becomes unchasable. Bundle it up as suggested above, but do it by tax years. Then it is easy to lob stuff out at 7 years and not be worried about things coming out of the woodwork

As above and stick it in the loft. If you don't need it, it doesn't matter and if you do it's there.

I would keep them. I am being asked to provide proof of details of an address I was living at in 2009 in Australia.

I am being chased for money in the UK by Northumbria water that we DON'T owe, trying to get details is a nightmare as we shredded everything when we left.

You never know when you might need something.
