Hi, I work at Currys.digital and we don't price match dixons. They are now just an online retailer and they are priced to compete with other online retailers.

However, we do match other high street retailers. The rules are the store must be in the area ie. in the town or city and the item must be in stock there. Currys will price match argos, jessops, tesco etc

    Hope that helps.

Where does it state "store must be in the area", and why won't you price match Dixons when they are owned by the same company Curry's are ?

Well as far as I know that is the case, if your in a currys store.

Say if argos do an amazing price on a TV, but it sales out really quickly. Argos may not have loads of that item in stock hence the good price. Currys will match (and give an extra 10% off) if they have it in stock in the area but say the is one in stock at the other end of the country, if will not be price matched. It may be different if you buy over the phone???

As for dixons, we don't price much them. I no its part of the same company but they are run separtly. Currys is competive on the high street but they can't be as cheap as web prices.

  • I had a blue Samsung NC10 on order from Dixons at £299, but got fed up with waiting when they started saying things like they were sure that the delivery from Samsung had arrived but they didn't know where in the warehouse it was, so couldn't guarantee when mine would be dispatched.

So I Googled up the direct number of a local Currys Digital store and the assistant told me which branch near me had stock, list price £329. I drove there and listened to the chap tell me that they didn't price match Dixons because they had the overhead of shops and so on, then offer me £320, £310, try to sell me insurance and finally said OK, he's do it for £299.

    I'm very happy!
  • we can price match currys.co.uk (managerial discretion)

If staff do it properly no they won't. The policy is price match plus 10% of the difference of any local store which have the exact same product, same model etc. This is a problem with Currys say have a le32a456 and comet have a le32a457, different model numbers although the exact same TV. It really does depend on the store, no they don't have to do it. The items also have to be in stock, and also, they take into account any delivery fees.
  • i just phoned currys about price matching a t.v i seen on dixons website an they told me they dont price match any web prices  is this right ??

they will not match a web price just a local shop a long as the item is in stock and won't match dixons as it's a web only retailor

This is correct. I was in store just a few weeks ago & asked about a camera £155 online and £175 instore. They said no as its online only price match stores in the area if the shop.
