Selling books?

I sold a book yesterday that I listed as a BIN a couple of days ago, pricing it between the two lowest prices on amazon, as with all books there are some that are 3 times the cost of the cheaper ones. After fees & P&P I got about £15. Amazed that it went that fast, I need to check all my boxes of books to see whether I have any similar ones.
I won't say what it was but was a male type hobby book. No doubt out of print now & only a handful on Amazon, none on or sold on ebay.
I inherited a lot of old books a few years ago & I've not really gone through them but the few I've listed have sold really fast. I may have eventually got more on amazon but I do need to declutter & that amount of cash is pretty handy.0 -
An auction house had never crossed my mind I have never been to one, but knowing that you have picked up three tea chests full of books for £3 I may have to investigate visiting one to fill my tiny house further with other peoples clutter lol
My one warning would be that auctions are addictive, I have a house full of 'stuff; to prove it. :rotfl:I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. We are all weird, especially me for buying three tea chest fulls of books when I only wnated two of them for my sons uni course. I listed 4 others on Amazon and the rest I had to transport in boxes to Oxfam. I nearly broke the suspension on my car.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. The best ones are the smallelr ones that are not online, I found two of mine in the local paper, they don't advertise weekly, just occasionally.
Then I started watching the antique style programmes like 'Put your money where your mouth is' and took down th enames of smaller ones and found an address and phoned for details. I found my favourite one that way.
Then I have used others that I have found on www.saleroom.com that is an online site that auciton houses can sign up for and you can actually watch live bidding and bid online as though you were there in person. They tend to attract better goods though, very few £3 lots, as they get serious attention from overseas buyers.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
