  • tricky. something small but thoughtful is prob best- bottle of wine or thornton chocs depending on what she likes...anything bigger could be misconstrued. good luck
  • The question is after a week, how much do you like her? Wine/chocs is definitely playing it safe and not a bad idea at all. Or treat her to a meal somewhere (perhaps somewhere a bit posher than you might normally go?)

Teddy bears are always nice or a cuddly toy of her favourite animal, something that's kind of generic but with a personal touch.

Flowers to go with any of the above would be a nice touch if it's been a great week ;)
  • Maybe a CD and some chocs.

I started going out with my now hubby 2 days before Christmas. He must have gone into town Christmas Eve and bought me an LP. Wasn't expecting anything.
  • Well i know she is buying me something, and i get the impression that she likes me quite a bit, so god knows what is buying.

Maybe just a cuddly toy, dvd and some alcohol, with a nice big xmas card.
  • I started going with OH just under 2 months before xmas and even then I wasnt expecting anything but I was told I was getting something....I got a nice necklace, choccies, and a teddy for the nights I was alone. More than I expected.

I appreciate 2 months is a bit more than a week but trust your instincts on what to get, and if not, then follow a bit of the advice from the other posts above. Wine, choccies, CD, DVD etc, they always go down well (but just remember and take a sly look at the CD and DVD collection first so you don't get a doubler!).

  • Oh and I got together 3 weeks before christmas - agreed not to get each other anything as it's just a minefield. We set a budget after that and things seem to work just fine! Why not compromise and do a secret santa type thing - set a prensent budget of £10 or something?

I totally read the title wrong...

I thought it said you were 'buying a new girlfriend'

    Sorry ;)
  • I'd spend about £30, how about a teddy from the bear factory, a bottle of wine and a nice card?

    As an aside.................

I've never understood why grown women like getting stuffed animals as presents????? Throughoutmy adult life people have bought me these and I have always been !!!!!!? about them

Maybe I am missing a fluffy woman gene or summink? :D

I would buy her a bottle of the booze she has drunk when u are out together - shows u've remembered her fave tipple and that you're paying attention :D. Then Accessorise have some gorgeous costume type jewellery things or handbags, go in there and explain to the nice lady your dilemma and she'll be able to help you pick something that most women would like. Your new girl will be impressed that you've got her something girlie and Accessorise is quite stylee, I'd be happy with anything from there - as long as there wasn't a stuffed bear shoved in it :rotfl:

  • I think it's lovely that romance is not dead and I'm a 'smug married'!

Working to a budget of £30 check out https://www.activitysuperstore.com for a fab selection. What about a months unlimited DVD rental for £15 then you get to stay in for a cosy night to watch them too!! Or a night out for both of you greyhound racing for two £29 or paintballing for two £25
