Royal Mail - lost item

During the last postal strikes, I sent a parcel via Parcelforce with no extra insurance. As most of you will know there is a number associated with each parcel sent so I presumed that they got tracked no problem. Apparently they have no way of tracking unless you pay extra for insurance where they will be able to track it. Anyway, the parcel had not arrived for 3 weeks so I sent a claim in for about £22 and unbeknown to me (at the time) the buyer also did and we both got cheques through which was nice and then to cap it all the parcel turned up, needless to say I did not hesitate to pass the cheque back to Parcelforce (!), Buyer ended up with free item, I ended up with double payment, Nice !
i am currently seliing some Sony stereos which are on BIN for 99.99 but are worth £150, I always insure them for £250 and hope they get lost but unfortunately none have yet !!!!!!! They have also improved the way that they handle parcels and each parcel must have correct post code and address before they will accept it, on the computer in the PO they have a postcode checker type thingy which matches up the address.Up the Rams !!0 -
Parcel 'went missing' in the lead up to Xmas. Followed the Post Office web site to claim back the cost, and I included the postal cost in the claim.
They paid up with a letter of apology and it INCLUDED the postal costs.
Then a few days after I refunded the buyer, it was returned to me!!
I'm sure I will get round to telling Royal Mail soon.....
