Phone charger alternative use?

I've just bought some portable speakers for an ipod, it requires batteries but says it can also be used with a 6v 350mm A AC-DC transformer which I would need to buy separately.

Am I completely wrong in thinking a phone charger could do the same thing?

Well, it might be ok, but I'm hesitant.

A lot of chargers, especially rapid ones, are not straight dc but charge in pulses. This might cause noise breakthrough into audio channels; for example my car radio has extra noise on medium wave frequencies when the phone is charging
  • Thanks redux - do you think it would damage the speakers if I try the various phone chargers I have?

I won't hold you responsible if they do, they were only cheap!

Most phone chargers would not give 6V output.
