Anglian Windows - any good?

Today I had a quote for replacement UPVC windows from Anglian. This is the third quote I've had and I have Everest coming on Friday. Anglian is the cheapest so far by over £1,000 which is a huge amount. The others I've had have been smaller independent local firms but ones who are on local vetted tradesman forums.
The Anglian salesman told me they never normally sell their windows this cheaply and it's because they are offering them at basically factory/cost price due to December having been very quiet. Not sure if this is sales patter? Certainly the spec/quality of the windows (according to the sales patter and the brochure!!) seems to be excellent.
I tried to ask for a discount on the price he gave, just to test the water, but although the salesman made a call to his boss, I didn't succeed.
Just wondering if anyone has any comments on Anglian - having had work carried out and if so if you'd recommend their service, quality of windows and price?
Many thanks.

with the big companies you are never sure you are getting their best price
get a couple of other quotes from local reputable firms and see how they can compare
you can always ask anglian to match their price if you want to use them0 -
Always make sure the "10Year" Gtee is insurance backed.........Double Glazing firms come and go as they please...........They even go bust (Our Price Windows) then Hey, Presto, open up agine WITH THE SAME NAME.......... and its entirely legal...........they wont honour any Gtee, of course issued by the previous company....even if they have got the same name!!!!!!!0

I would avoid Anglian windows with a barge pole, I had terrible problems with the installation. The manager I dealt with in the end told me he sacked the installation team. Although the windows were ok the 4 sets of patio doors are problematic. Never did get this resolved satisfactorily with the the company.
Add to this an Anglian rep (Tracy Merrick) persuaded me to take out a GE loan which has turned out to be an absolute nightmare. I feel such a complete fool to have been suckered into this. I'll cut a long story short. I had every intention of paying for my installation outright, I was lucky enough to have the cash. But she said take a loan out and pay off amounts as dictated by her/Anglian at specified points during the year, the last payment should have been for an amount of just over £20. The reason why I decided to take out the GE loan was because Anglian said they would give me 10% of the commission they make by getting people to take out GE loans. It was only going to be a couple of hundred quid but as they say every little helps! I've just rung GE to confirm this, and they've told me that the last payment is for £128.41 because of accumulating interest.
I know, I know I feel such a fool, knew it was too good to be true.
So, if you do go with Anglian and then get a call from Tracy Merrick or any other Anglain rep. you have been warned.0 -

Hiya,
Posted on another thread, but would like a bit more input.
Could some let me know if this a good quote from Anglian for their B-rated White Knight windows?
They are quoting me £3,725 saying my windows are more expensive as my house has 2 very large bay windows to fit. The measurements of my windows are:
Living room: 2250x1300 (three openings) + (400x1300)x2
Main Bedroom: as above, but with two openings and a vent
2nd Bedroom: 2200x1300 (2 Openings)
Box room: 1100x1300 (1 opening)
Bathroom: 1250x1100 (1 opening and obsured glass)
I've had a few other quotes but Anglian did a good job on my front door, and my parents house so I'm leaning towards them.
Any help would be much appreciated...
P.S Don't ever go with SafeStyle. Just had an extremely dodgy salesmen in my house and regretted ever letting him in. Basically said he'll give me a good deal £3310 as long as I have him a backhander when the job was done to make up for the commission he was losing out on!0 -
We are looking for windows for our Guide Hall....16 windows of varying sizes. We have had 6 quotes, ranging from £8500-ish to £15500-ish. The Anglian quote was £10500-ish and their windows looked good.
Our lowest quote was from a local joiner/builder, some £8500, he is using the same windows as our next up quote...Veka windows......the next quote is £1000 more. We are thinking to go with thje lowest quote.
The windows look lovely, the glass is what we want, the handles work how we want.
The Anglian quote was good too......just not as good as this one (I hope!)
It is a huge responsibility spending someone else's money.0 -
I have had BAC and Anglian windows fitted - both good, but also had very good fitters for both jobs. BAC after sales pretty poor - took nearly a year to solve a problem. No problem with Anglian, so cannot comment on their aftersales. All salespeople I've had are a complete waste of time and I wouldn't believe anything they say. Used a local company to install a window - no cheaper than the big boys - Product no different to the bigger players but appalling fitting and even more appalling after sales = would never use them again.0

We had three quotations from different companies to replace our home windows and front door last year. Finally placed an order in March with Anglian Windows. We got windows and door installed in July 2010 instead of end May which they promised when we place the order.
Here is my ratting to Anglian in different areas.
Product: 5/10
1.We get more noise through the windows, Anglian blamed the installer and installer blamed Anglian product, still an issue,.
2. Double glaze window unit got water mark on inside wall. Anglian said if we can not see the mark from 10 feet, it was not a problem. But in the end they replaced the panel.
3. Front door panel lead started coming off in Oct 2010. Anglian said they will repair it and sent a repair man with some lead and glue. Anglian said if it come off again they will replace it. But their repair man suggested otherwise and said if we accept the repair once we accept the repair Anglian will not replace it in future.
4. Front door dropped, the repair person did some mechanical adjustment by hammering the hinge which solved the problem but bent the hinge, Anglian said they will replace the hinge.
5. Cheap quality fixtures.
Installation: 4/10 We had to do lot redecorating after installation. Installer used minimal amount of silicon around the windows and doors.
After Sale Service: 3/10 (You will have hire someone to accommodate their visits and repairs.)
I will not recommend Anglian Windows even to my Mother-in-Law.0
