Apologies
The MoneySavingExpert.com forums, have a minor glitch. This is most likely because we’re performing the regular Forum back ups and this means the capacity is temporarily reduced (or that the site has a huge amount of current traffic).
All should be ok in a minute
If you wait 30 seconds to a minute, and refresh your web browser, everything should be ok.
So sorry.
Hopefully not for long and not that often

it is when the server gets overloaded and a connection cant be made to the database. best to wait a while and try again.
worst you can do is refresh all the time.0 -
Thank goodness for that thought it was my Wanadoo connection playing up again. It costs a fortune to ring them up.When life gives you a hundred reasons to cry, show life that you have a thousand reasons to smile0

Nah, there are threads on here tonight about unsolicited messages from MSE......I'd hazard a guess that Martin has put the operational efficiency of this site secondary to spamming the members.

This site doesn't spam. If you read the thread you'll see what actually happened was one of the test emails for the tip was sent to the 100 people who volunteered to test the new site. There was no spamming whatsoever - quite the opposite.
As for resourcing - actually I've just paid for three new servers, including a massive new database server to try and keep the forums running without this problem. That's the reason (as someone kindly stated above) that the forum is down for 8 hours tonight - while the techie team work through the night (so as not to disturb users) to get it all working.
The above post - i hope was meant as humour - otherwise it was unfair, unkind and untrue.

If it was an attempt at humour - I'd stick to the day job chuckles!!
Though you are right that the site has been slow in recent weeks - so thanks Martin for the news about the new servers :T - hope the MSE techno-elves get it sorted by the morning.0
