T-Mobile or O2

I'm currently on O2 on the Simplicity tariff but want to upgrade my phone to the new Sony Arc.
O2 and T-Mobile have similar deals for this on contract but I'm wondering which to go for. At the moment any text messages I use abroad are taken out of my monthly allowance, but on the new tariffs on either network this does not seem to be the case
Can anyone tell me the price difference for using the text and picture messaging abroad on both these networks?
Is T-Mobile a better network / company?
Am I better off sticking with O2.
Do you think I could negotiate a better rate with O2 than the one advertised?
Any help would be much appreciated
