Am I the only one who was so disappointed by Morecambe's 'beach' that I practically broke down in tears? After a week of planning, and 1h20mins of driving, stepped out of the car and saw..... a sandpit.

I need a proper coast line, with cliffs and rocks and breaking waves! So far the coastal offerings of the North West just aren't floating my boat - quite literally. because there's no bl--dy water!
What did you expect; its an estuary! :p

Pete - parksafe is the most AWESOME carpark in the world. :D Kinda James Bond style security and buttons to press! Not too expensive in the evenings but I wouldn't even consider it for any other time.

Parking is not that much of a problem if you know where to look, even during the day. Dumbarton Road and associated streets (near Cathedral) are two mins walk from town are are free.

    That's the secret, local knowledge.
Any further up from Dumbarton Road, and tha'll need a bottle of oxygen;)
    Two minutes on roller skates:eek:

Indeed, I used to walk up that hill every day when I used to get the train in and go to the Grammar School.

Oh heck, it looks like Supergran is going to get wet:(
  • Hi
OH & I will be visiting Lancaster over the weekend of 16th / 17th July.
Can anyone please advise on places to go , or if there are any 'country fair' type events happening on this weekend?
We are mobile , so transport not a problem.
We will be staying in the centre of Lancaster, so any good places to eat recommendations would also be appreciated!

Many thanks in advance for any suggestions!!:)

    Hi All!!

Well a big thank you to all who replied, with lots of help and advice.
We had a great weekend! ( even though 'Mr Rain' did his best to drown us!!)
Everything we needed was at hand, room was clean and comfortable, Wetherspoons next door (for plenty of reasonably priced giggle juice), and Tesco round the corner for nibbly bits! ( & everything else that we needed!
Unfortunately we didn't manage to do all we had planned, due to time,( and the horrendous weather!!). Oh dear , never mind, we'll just have to book another visit , LOL!!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    Many, many thanks again!!

St Swithin was waiting for you
At least the rain in North Lancashire is warmer in July.
How did you find the parking?

    Hi Pete!
We actually managed to park in the car park opposite the front door, ( on both days), but I do see what you mean about it always being full! (people were fighting over spaces!!).We just got incredibly lucky on both occassions!
Given the weather, to be honest, it was a godsend! Sorry, I know its not very 'money savvy' re: parking charges, but ho hum!!
Thanks so much for all the help, can't wait to go again, hopefully when its sunny!!

    Best wishes.:j
