    Thanks Del, I do actually have a few pressing questions which I would be really grateful for an answer to;

    A bit of background first about me - When travelling I like to stay close to the ground and literally go in, get done what I want to and get out.

    - The weather in August, I am under the impression it will be quite dry?
    - What is the average cost ranges for accommodation - i.e budget/mid range etc?
    - I am basically looking at replacing a trip to Egypt with Sri Lanka and so really have about a week. Is that enough/too much/not enough?
    - Where would you recommend visiting/avoiding?

    Finally, is it worth it? I'm not talking about the average person that rarely travels and having an amazing holiday. I am talking about as a side trip, is it worth going?

    I know plenty of people come on here and ask these questions with the thought of booking a holiday 3 years away. I will be in Tamil Nadu and so can get a flight for £30 or the ferry. The reality is, if the answers you give are the ones i'm looking for Ill get this booked today.

    So thanks in advance :)

    Not if you want to climb the Eiffel Tower, see the Sydney Opera House, sip Singapore Gin Slings at Raffles Hotel, marvel at the sunrise over Mount Kinabalu, etc, etc, etc, etc ..........

    If it was a holiday from the UK just for 7 nights I would say no, in my opinion I would maybe take a tour of the country and then a beach stay at the end

    We went to all the major points of interest

    Sigiryia rock fortress

    Kandy - Temple Of The Tooth

    Tea Trails

    Minneriya National Park

    Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage

    The people are fantastic, was great to get out and see the culture I would maybe be a little bored on the beach for lets say two weeks

    Yes, Del. Cheap Kingfisher flights from India I believe!

    Glad to hear you liked Sri Lanka; we've just had a fab fortnight in Mauritius but I'm currently planning our third trip to Sri Lanka!
