The person I spoke to at the branch nearest to me explained it all to me and is sending out all the details and forms as soon as they are available, but I will then have to take 2 forms of ID into my nearest branch to open the account.Wombling £457.410

How confusing! The person I spoke to is sending me out all the details and forms, including a standing order mandate, and said that I could submit the application by post providing my proof of IDs were marked 'certified true copy'. Honestly, it does seem as though the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing at Skipton.....0 -
I discovered today that there is a branch in my vicinity that I will be able to visit next week.:D I stumbled upon it purely by accident when I had to take a detour home. The building has been covered by scaffolding for months which obscurred the sign. When I searched online last month the branch finder didn't list this branch, but on searching online today it now appears.
Therefore, I've made an appointment and will be opening this account on Monday. Please call me 'Kazza'.0 -
Has anyone opened an account yet?
Is it what it seems?:smileyheaRachel xx0 -
Just wanted to say thanks to the OP for the heads up on this account. I'll be going in soon to set mine up (and thanks to everyone else who's contributed useful info on here too

My nearest branch is over 45 miles away so I shall be researching other accounts. I usually try and fill an Asda shopping card for Christmas too, £6 back on top of a £144 save. (Already on the site elsewhere of course)0

Yes, I've opened mine. It is what it says it is. They give you an 'How it works' leaflet on opening the account. The same information in the leaflet is also available via the Skipton website here.
- Accounts must be opened face-to-face at a branch.
- You can open your account with anything between £10 and £150.
- You can pay in between £10 and £150 per month, whatever amount suits you. This amount can be varied each month as long as you pay the minimum of £10 each month.
- Interest will be capitalised on the account at midnight 24 November 2007 and this, plus the account balance, will be transferred into our Instant Access Account. Cash withdrawals from this account are limited to £250 per day.
- You cannot make withdrawals. If you need to access your money earlier than 25 November 2007, then your account may be closed. Accrued interest will be paid to the date of closure.dancingfairy wrote:Just wanted to say thanks to the OP for the heads up on this account. You're welcome. I'm glad the info has been helpful. Please call me 'Kazza'.0 -
I opened their Ordinary Regular Saver back in November before this Christmas Saver was announced but was a bit put out when they would not accept cash as the initial deposit (fortunately had a cheque book on me).
Opening the Christmas Saver yesterday I WAS allowed to make an initial cash deposit maybe because I now already have an account with them.
I would suggest TAKING A CHEQUE BOOK just in case for new applicants.Old Saying Once bitten twice shy
