For my pal.
He has cabled Virgin broadband and an Iphone. He wants to preserve his internet connection usage and wondered how he can connect his Iphone into the Virgin BB which has unlimited use. Is there any device/dongle to make his sky wifi as there is no wifi router needed.

Do you mean he has Sky ADSL?
What device is he using to connect to it because SFAIK Sky only supply wireless routers?
If he has a non-wireless router he could probably get it replaced by Sky for free.0 -
Sky have never supplied wired only routers, ( the first router they used as a modified Netgear DG834GT) and certainly do not provide cable broadband.
I think you need more information from your friend, sounds more like Virgin. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
So so sorry:o:o:o
You are right it is Virgin. Entirely my fault & must have been having one of my senior moments.0 -
Virgin will supply a wireless router/hub but friends have reported that they usually want to sell you a new more expensive package, guess it would be the first port of call for your friend.
I installed one of these for a friend on Virgin which works fine, cost around £30.

In that case I'm guessing he just has a modem. First port of call is VM to see it they'll supply him with a free wireless hub. If they won't then a wireless cable router can be had for ~ £20 up.

I'd just go for the virgin dir615, least that way virgin support should be able to help the user if required

I bet the seller will regret getting shot of that when he realises what a crock the new Superhub is (which I'm guessing he's got on an upgrade).0

Remember guys that any provider is obliged to provide a new hub if the old one ceases to function. Usually a quick call to customer services with the line "none of the lights will come on" is enough to prompt a nice free upgrade. Your moral compass is your guide for doing this i personally have no sympathy as you could switch services annually and perpetually receive free equipment which costs the providers pennies. If you are using equipment without functionality that a new subscriber would get by default then i believe you are within your rights to bend the truth since playing it straight with providers will earn you no credit whatsoever.
