Due to work, it seems like I'll have to relocate to North-west london. Work place will be Harrow but I dont mind travelling a bit i.e. 30-40 mins every day.
My most important criteria for the location is access to good primary and secondary school.
Budget is around 300k, I would ideally want 4 bed property (I understand its not going to be easy
.
I will really appreciate your thoughts and suggestions!

Will you need tubes/trains? IMO that would make a big difference to where you'd want to look.

4 bed property and good primary and good secondary schools. All for 300k. In NW London. Something is going to have to be compromised.
I would suggest studying admission criteria for schools, you will find that some will take children from outside the immediate area, enabling you to live somewhere cheaper than the immediate vicinity of the good schools.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Appreciate your thoughts. I'm at real loss as I dont know the area well (I'm from south west). So any suggestions on locations/areas will be great!0 -
Ruislip/ Eastcote / Pinner / Northwood Hills.... generally the areas are better (and more expensive), the further you move north of the A40
or , go a bit further out up the Met Line to Little Chalfont, or Amersham or Chesham in Bucks ( still have grammar school system there, so a lot of people move out just for that.)
All have good tube/train links to Harrow0 -

Then rent first so you get to know the areas. A few roads difference can mean a lot in London.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Renting will even more difficult! Firstly which location do I rent and secondly with kids involved school etc becomes even more of a problem. I dont want them to join a school only for the school to be changed later when we finalise on a house.
Renting on my own would be something I like to avoid due to cost, staying away from family etc. This is something I would consider as a last resort.0 -

Cheers, Some really good pointers there! I'll start to gain some information about these areas.0 -

I was quite surprised to find that there are over 1,000 4 bed houses within 10 miles of Westminster for under £325k asking price on Rightmove. Even so, finding somewhere nice is going to be hard. Maybe try Kingsbury/Kenton area? If you come from the South West, you may be surprised how 'ethnic' parts of London are. (BTW, I know I am setting myself up for some unpleasant comments here, but I just want the OP to be aware of something that may for all I know be an issue for him.)

Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

If you are looking round here you need to examine school admission criteria carefully.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
