in Credit cards
Ok we all know that cahoot is being scaled down, so no new applicants for the credit card.
As a recent victim of card fraud (yesterday) I went straight to cahoot to sign up for the credit card with the amazing webcard feature, but alas no deal ;(
only for existing card holders, no new applicants
my question is: does anyone here know of any other web safe card payment systems that work through the VISA/Mastercard system like the cahoot webcard?
obviously I use paypal where I can, but its still limited to a very few places.
any ideas?

Much as I hate promoting cahoot, their webcard thingy works with their current account debit card too, if that helps.0

Unfortunately, cahoot are not accepting any new applications even for current accounts ;(, they passed me along to Abbey National which does not support the webcard system, I declined to open the account0

I have a Cahoot card, and the webcard idea is excellent, used it a few times and I cant fault it.Aiming to be debt free....but still off target0

I think they could be on to a massive winner if they relaunched it for everyone branded as the internet card, I'm sure there's a huge market for a card like this,
they couldn't have marketed the card very well in the past, I only know about it from Martins website0 -

I have used - or tried to use - many times, about 50% go through fine and there is no problem.
The rest, well some just get rejected without any explanation, some say they won't accept an expiry date only one month hence, some go through then you get a call (if you're lucky) from the seller saying the sale has been rejected - even though your application was accepted by the banking organisation.
The worst ones are where the Webcard goes through fine, and after a few days when nothing has been received you chase it up with the seller, only to find that it failed and they just couldn't be bothered telling you.
So I am thinking of not using it anymore, also the customer support is non-existent.
Isn't it about time we web-buying security-conscious folks were given the option of buying some form of reader which plugs into the USB port so the card could be read to get proper verification, the webcard idea was good but obviously the banks aren't interested in helping customers avoid fraud.0 -

As I said I have used it a few times and had no problems, I agree that CS has gone downhill lately, dont know why tho...........Aiming to be debt free....but still off target0 -
I think it is a novel idea but never considered it really to be that effective. I was surprised that they didnt make a much bigger thing about it in their marketing given the amount of IT investment setting up the system would have taken.
The only types of fraud it can prevent/ reduce are
1) key logging
2) packet sniffing
3) online merchant fraud
I personally would question really what percentage of fraud these 3 make up in comparison to all the other avenue's that people have for committing fraudAll posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

I just received a secure message from Cahoot stating from 9 October 2009 they are withdrawing their Webcard. They could have promoted it a lot more. It was the reason I kept my Cahoot account open after switching banks.0

And Ivobank are also withdrawing their webcard product (along with all others!)0
