    I've been Money Tipped!
TBH, I'm more concerned about people losing their homes rather than several companies going bust. The jobs lost could obviously have a knock-on affect.
I know someone who works with mortgages and last year she said there were loads of folk 6 months+ in arrears and that the government had told lenders to ease back on re-possessions and offer arrangements etc. (which have an effect on your credit file). The problems being is the arrears will escalate and the lenders can't let it escalate for ever and it's inevitable something is going to give.
I fear there will be loads of folk losing their homes shortly, if not in the second half of this year, then certainly next year..........unless something improves.
Sympathy for those losing an income, especially those at the middle to bottom end. Hope you find something suitable quickly.

if you want to discuss shops closing down then why not use the economy or discussion time section?
I find these type of posts in the Grabbit section a mite distasteful and smacks of vultures circling

I read a newspaper article about 5 years ago which basically said that in 10 years the UK would be left with a tiny number of shops from which to shop from. It talked about the large department stores being slowly sent into administration and Tesco being the one of only a small number of places left to shop, bank, get legal advice etc from. At the time it seemed ridiculous - now it is becoming a reality. Scary. There won't be many glitches or deals when they are the only one left.

This is a real shame - I like TJ Huhges and find some good bargains in there, especially for a physical shop (rather than online).
I spent £35 in there just last week.
At the same time, i'm not hugely suprised - the store near me (North Bristol) is never busy and although is in a small retail park, when the huge Woolworths which was next door closed, I always felt there was no coming back.
    Good luck to the staff.

This is a real shame and has hurt my eldest son. He is the deputy restaurant manager here in Newcastle and was going great guns :(

The restaurant did a good trade and was very busy he's waiting to hear news of what will happen.

Such a shame for all those people who work there.

Oh no, what is happening:eek:, all these stores are heading into administration one after the next. I was about to go on TJ HUGHES to purchase a stainless steel pot set which I find was a good bargain while trawling through lastnite. Now I'll have to look elsewhere.

I doubt it, our big tesco is 5 miles away and i have no car. there is small tescos but still a half hour walk, and every time ive been they have gotten the bill wrong!, ok for double the difference or whatever it is these days, but a shop is suppose to get the final bill right, not wrong!.

i dont like tesco much :o

    :D

Boyes store does some older ladies knickers (assuming your `older`) :)

I likes tj hughes, i used to think it was just for the oldies too, as there is always older people in there, but ours is huge, and has clothes for all ages really. older people do need clothes too, i dont know where everyone will go, i mean at xmas, ours is always packed with people. they also sell beds, and tvs, and we just got a kettle from there a few months ago.

maybe thats what all them £5 vouchers where in the newspapers, £5 off when you spend £30. Cos they knew they needed more business. i have no idea whats going to move into ours then, as its been there for 10 years ever since the shopping centre opened.

i only just started going in there as i used to think it wasnt that good, but now i change my mind, its going into administration

i read somewhere that it should have been trying to be more like wilkinsons, but to me, thats a completley different type of shop. ours has rails and rails full of clothes. if theres a sale on, it'll be like a mad crush :o

    Phew.

In the nick of time, I think.

I just called my local delivery company who 10 Mins ago collected a parcel for return/refund to TJ HUGHES and I have gotten them to return it to me.

    Close call.

I think/hope that was wise as I fear it could have disappeared altogether.

What would YOU have done under the circumstances?
