Thank you so much for the great replies and advice guys!

I think yes, in this case it was only 5kg (Thomas Cook) per person for hand luggage which would not be nearly enough... but one 20kg luggage (at £40!) would be enough I'm sure. Only problem is my case I have isn't big enough for 20kg but is probably too big for hand luggage, argh! :D Will need to buy a new one anyway.

And thanks for the links, just checked the package holidays on Olympic holidays (with luggage, transfers etc) and it then actually works out at £910 for the both of us, so still £100 more than booking through Teletext and paying for the extras on top. I tried Hotelcomparison etc too and again it came out as being a bit more expensive!

I think finding a cheap deal without lots of catches is impossible by the looks, just need to try and find the balance between which is cheaper. Thank you very much for the transfer sites btw, works out at £11.50 per person which would be a total of £32 saving!

    1 piece of hand baggage no bigger than 43cm x 28cm x 23cm
Wow! That's barely much bigger than my backpack that I use to carry my football kit in :D

Annoyingly I know exactly where I want to go (place, hotel, airport to leave from etc), but there are so many sites and options and airlines and arghahhgar how do you find the cheapest price for these things! Just remembered you have to pay for the boarding slip or whatever it's called too, so many extras argh! Then £58 for the car park too. /faints

Still looking fruitlessly, which site(s) would you say is generally the best for package deals?

Try ww.travelrepublic.co.uk or Expedia but be aware that it is a dynamic package where all the element are bought separately.

Many thanks, I just checked Expedia and the cheapest is £1,084 for a two star hotel that's in a pretty bad and remote area, eek! Kinda puts it into perspective that maybe the initial deal wasn't so bad, even with the extras :)

Which ever travel company you are booking through on teletext must be adding something onto the luggage, because Thomas Cook don't charge £40 for 1 suitcase with 20kg in, on a flight only and "generally" its £20 per person return. If its a TC flight have you tried a TC travel agent or even flythomascook.com to see if they can do it cheaper.

Good shout, thanks! To be honest I haven't been a travel agent since I figured online could be cheaper, but it's definitely worth a look!

Looking on Teletext and there are so many providers that possiblyhave varying luggage allowances: Media Travel, Broadway Travel, YourHolidays.com, Teletext Direct and 2bookadeal - none of them state if they include transfers (I guess they don't) and none show luggage allowances, always "Airline confirmed at time of booking"

Saying that, one provider flies with Thompson which is only an extra £6 extra... if I book my own transfers I'd be looking at quite a nice saving of £107 overall!

Bloody hell - I swear it's going up! Just rang to actually book, they want £36 each for transfers (I will get these myself) and luggage is £58 per person, with no option to just have one luggage between us lol, £188 of extras :/

Hi if you book with direct holidays you get a free upgrade from 15kg to 20kg and free inflight meal and they are part of thomas cook if this helps

Sigh - you snooze, you lose! Just rang to book, and the flights are completely booked up now, only available is Manchester - not only very far away, but £110 per person extra!

Gutted. Back to square one, and all of the research into the area and hotel was basically for nothing.

Thanks for the link though, nice to have free luggage but unfortunately no more flights :(
