Plusnet Extra with static IP address

Need some advice please: Have BT Broadband Option 1 with BT Home Hub 2, long distance from exchange so best speed is now (since exchange upgrade) 1600 down, 410 up, which I have to live with.
Problem is I need a static IP address which BT don't offer, I also need a router that does not drop the line or update it's self frequently (don't know which) as I need to have a fixed IP address to the router and the BT HH2 seems to change the internal IP address frequently.
I am using the home hub connected wirelessly to two environmental monitors and checking on these periodically from off site, I loose the connection because the internal IP address from the monitor to the Home Hub keeps changing and the gateway external address is dynamic so keeps changing.
I have tried to fix the external IP address with a no ip type service, but the internal address problem is beating me.
Does anyone know if the issue is:

1:The BT Home Hub
2:The poor line to the exchange causing the line to drop out and reset the internal IP's
3:Both of the above
4: Something else

Have the opportunity to move from BT (end of 18th month contract) and was wondering if Plusnet Extra with static IP would be any better, or is it likely to be as bad? No real cost advantage to go this route.

Thanks in advance for anyone's experience of similar problems and their solution.

If the monitors are losing their internal IP address then you need to:

    * go into monitor's IP configuration
    * disable DHCP / obtain IP address automatically
    * set up a specific IP address

    OR

    * go into Hub DHCP Server / Reserved IP list configuration
    * find the list of client devices (the 2 monitors)
    * set the client devices' IP addresses to be static and set them to different internal addresses

    See here.

That way, either they won't keep updating their internal IP address, or if they do the Hub will always give them the same one.

The continually changing internal IP address on the monitors may be down to a poor wireless connection. There may be a function in the monitors or in the Hub to see the monitors' network uptime; this would tell you they are frequently losing connection and reconnecting.
