Cost of a new soil pipe?

good afternoon
the soil pipe from an upstairs loo needs to be replaced and so far I have had 2 quotes. One for £500 and the other for £2500.
I will be getting other quotes but did not expect them to be so far apart! Can any one suggest a realistic figure?
As far as can be seen the pipe is cracked at a join where it leaves the bathroom and the concrete base also has a crack which has started to leak when we flush the loo. It is not leaking when the loo has not been flushed, so the drain seems to be clear.
sorry if this is not in the right place, but could do with some advice.
many thanks

I had a quote 10 years ago "£250 is the maximum it'll be, if I find a problem".
I had what you have: at the join, water spills out of the join half way up the pipe.0 -
So there are two separate leaks? It's unclear from your description what needs to be done. Do the 2 quotes describe the work? Is the work quoted for the same in each case?
Is the lav pan being replaced?
Or just re-sealing the join?
The soil pipe into which the pan is connected being replaced?
How much pipe is being replaced?
You say "where it leaves the bathroom" - where does it go? Through external wall? Will the wall need work?
Or does the pipe go down through the floor? What work is need here?
You could also post on the InMyHome forum, or the plumbing section of DIYNot here.0 -
Get another couple of quotes and see how they pan out too.
You might feel flushed after finding out it's the cheaper price.0
