Free windscreen repairs

Hi all

Just spotted a chap in the Sainsburys car park with a stand saying Free windscreen repairs.

I spoke to him and he said I would need to give him my insurance details (fully comp only) and he could sort out my stone chip in 5 minutes.

Is this safe or is it a scam?

Cheers

  • I reckon it's safe.

I don't know the name of the company you saw, but Autoglass offer this service as well and i've had mine done. Generally when you are fully comp, part of your insurance are free windscreen repairs so it won't affect your no-claims bonus.

I'd have a look on google for the company name if you are still not sure.

Some made a post about this scam a few weeks back /goes off to find the link

    Cant find the linknow
  • Yeah I had this done through autoglass, basically they just fix chips and cracks with clear resin so they won't get worse. You still have the chip but without it it could crack so much you would need a new screen.

insurance companies will pick up the bill because its cheaper than replacing windscreens.

    strange, but true

I had it done in a supermarket car park the other week.

It was autoglass and I got a guarantee with it.

thanks for the replies - especially the autoglass bit.

Just went on their website and they actually come to you house and do it for free if you have fully comp insurance.

I may give them a call.

    Cheers
