Easyjet / older children's car seats

We are flying with our 2 and 6 year olds. The Easyjet website is clear about taking a buggy and car seat for children upto 3yrs (which we will put in the hold).
Just wondering if anyone had any experience with checking in a car seat for an older child?
I did give them a ring and got the impression it would be down to their discretion at check in.

Can it go onboard as part of the hand luggage?Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

Will the 6 year old not be better off just sitting normally (without a car seat)?0

Hand luggage is a possibility.
The car seat is for use in a hire car - not on board.0 -
I see yes, sorry, I just re-read your OP.
In that case, Easyjet say you can check it in for free.If the car seat is not going to be used in-flight, then it must be checked-in as hold baggage. Car seats, buggies, push chairs and travel cots are carried for free and do not make up part of your baggage allowance. Up to two of these items can be carried per infant or child.

Appears to be ambiguous, the answer starts with children up to 3 years.
"Yes, car seats can be taken onboard for any child aged 6 months to 3 years for whom you’ve paid a full fare seat.
The car seat:
* Must have a rigid metal or plastic frame
* Cannot be wider than 42cm
* Must include lap, shoulder and crotch straps

Please note: Booster seats cannot be taken on board but can be checked in as hold baggage."Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
Get a Bubble Bum
My 2 had them last year - no heavy car seats to lug about and no stupid car seat hire fees to pay.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?
