I had this problem last year - as the oyster readers had gone haywire at victoria station, and everyone who had gone through there had the maximum cash fare deducted.

This was verified by the guard, who told me to call TFL. Unfortunately, I did, who told me it would take a week to put it back on...I advised them that I had no money and was alone at night in london, and as I lived in ealing at the time, walking home was not a viable option.

They couldn't have cared less, and told that is wasn't their problem. I was so upset, and went back into the station...due to obvious hysteria at prediciment and knowing what had happened, they guy in the station refunded the lost money....I was amazed - why didn't they offer to do that in the first place?!

Any way. moral of the story, don't ring the cretins on the phone line, go into the station.

  • Maybe we should just never touch in. Then they'd be the ones at fault for not vigilantly 'paying attention' as one dictator here demands. Since our mistakes are effectively encouraged by their system, perhaps they should see what it's like? Anyway, it would encourage the use of more foolproof technology (like those innovations called "signs" and "barriers")

Who do you complain to? Oyster say you can't speak to a manager as they don't have any. We've escalated 3 complaints on e-mail via TFL where Oyster failed to answer or did not deal with the points. Oyster have over-charged on fares and ticket admin. One of these dates back to June. We only got a reply via TFL which ignored everything in the e-mail. At present it appears they can get away with anything by just ignoring complaints. At best incompetent but certainly looks crooked.
There must be somewhere independent to complain to. Who?
