Can I get TV sound on a Sony surround system?

The description suggests there is a supplied adaptor for the DM Port thing for iPhones/MP3 players, I would expect the 3.5mm jack to be on that adaptor.
if you look on your picture you've got the HDMI port roughly in the middle at the bottom and then to the right of that there's a small slot (like a thinner HDMI socket). I'm pretty sure it says DM PORT over it.0 -
I had one of these and had the same problem. There are no appropriate inputs for other sound sources. The 3.5mm socket on the front is a sound input BUT when I connected the sky box sound output (with an appropriate cable) the sound and pictures were out of sync. The only solution I had was to upgrade to a blu ray surround sound that has multiple inputs (optical etc). I am a bit of a sony fan and bought this one and I am very happy. It uses the sound return via the HDMI cable as a sound input on its TV setting and gives amplified stereo (not surround) from any source into the TV.Gas doc on the loose0

I have a Humax Freesat box connected to the Sony with a scart socket which works for Freesat, although I don’t know what is output (stereo, Dolby 5.1, Dolby digital ?), but can’t find a way to get the TV output to the surround system.
The Sony doesn’t have an optical socket for the sound. The only other sockets seem to be the HDMI (connected to the TV) and the scart which is connected to the Humax.
If I want to watch TV using the built in Freeview receiver I seem to be stuck with the TV’s speakers.
is there more than one scart output on your telly?
there should be?
buy one of these and phono it to your amplifier

i use an extra long phono lead that the lads use in their cars for boom boom boxes in their boots0 -

Yep, I've a couple of Sony systems with the DM port, and one came with the iPod adaptor, guess there are ones for Sony MP3 players too - works well.
This is a lesson in checking the specs of kit you buy - these all in one boxes can be cheap, and can sound OK, but you're missing out on so much, and you mightn't realise until you go to plug in your latest gadget and have nowhere to put it! Look for HDMI, digital optical (TOSLINK), Coax and phono inputs, rather than proprietary ones.0
