Thinking of switching

Hi all,
I'm thinking of switching away from o2 broadband & home phone.
Reason being as even though I'm an o2 customer I feel their prices have gone up to a bit more than I really want to pay.
However - I have never had a problem with their service, which has meant I've stayed longer than I wanted to.
I've been with their broadband for a long time, 18 months or so.
I'm possibly thinking of Orange as they seem quite cheap. Any opinions on them?
are there any alternatives? I don't want any capped usage either.

O2 are still one of the higher rated ISP's, although the newer tariffs are not as good as the legacy ones. As you are a customer of 18m, you should still be on one of the legacy tariffs, unless you changed.
Orange, however, are one of the lowest rated ISP's around, and have recently abandoned their LLU presence.
The few pounds you might save on Orange would be a false economy.
If you are 6m out of contract, with O2, have you called them and asked for a loyalty discount for another 12m contract? If so you should get a minimum of £2.50pm off your current rate.
Other alternatives depend on what is available on your exchange, so do an exchange search on https://www.samknows.com for your LLU options. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Do not go to Orange! As Mac say's,the few quid more you save moving from a decent service would soon be swallowed up making calls to Orange Tech in Mumbai. The are a lot of issues with the Orange WBC like older modems not working with the service, slow speeds ect.
For me,it's not an option as in my exchange,it's O2 or BT...O2 won hands down!0 -
cheers for the input guys, I'll stick where I am then - unless there is an alternative?0

Take a look at Sky.
Though sticking with O2 is (at a discount) probably the right choice. Just don't let them change your tariff. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Just how low or sneaky can TalkTalk get? Well, here is a bit of insight to their tactics if anybody is foolish enough to give them a try! 2 reps came to my door with their usual spiel of, “did I know my phone line had been upgraded”. Upgraded to what I asked? Free broadband! Oh yes and when did this happen I asked? The mouth-piece of the 2 said TalkTalk had upgraded my line for faster broadband. Well that’s news to me as I’ve been with Plusnet for 2 years and never been with TalkTalk. He asked how much I was paying, and I told him £22.85 a month for line rental, 60GB usage and free calls anytime.
We can give you fibre optic was his reply (I will add here that I have A+ network support, A+ hardware/software, MCP and an MCSE). I became a bit flippant at first and said, what are you some sort of magician or something, because this area (ALLOA) does not have fibre and there is no intention of the powers that be ever supplying it to this area, now or in the near future. Now for the !!!!!!!!! His reply was that TalkTalk can do it (they just have to flick a switch---Laughable or what eh!), and I sort of lost the rag a bit and told the pair to politely naff off (in Glaswegian terms of course).
What happened next throw me and caused a blistering row with the wife and I, because about 3 weeks or so later they were back, only this time I was out, and yes they got my wife to sign up (damned cheek). I immediately called their cancellation number to get the order cancelled, which they assured me was done.
Now for the juicy part! Last week I received a letter from TalkTalk (along with what has to be the cheapest, tackiest router I have ever clapped eyes on). The letter was a notification of my TalkTalk connection going live on 27th June, and of a direct debit to be deducted from a certain date + a £30 connection fee. We immediately contacted the bank to have this cancelled (STRONG ADVICE: DON’T EVEN LET THESE TALKTALK PEOPLE OVER THE DOOR).
I phoned them up again and warned them if they ever attempt anything like that again, I will be instructing my bank to initiate legal proceedings for attempted fraud.0 -
How (I was going to say awful, yes, but...) typical..!
I've had probs with TalkTalk in the past, still think they overcharged me on a bill. But after months of letters and just trying to contact them,(they are very bad communicators to say the least and very hard to get hold of) I really couldn't be a***d with chasing them, and the banging my head against a brick wall was becoming wearing on my health.0
