Main combi boilers?

Hi guys,my old Vailliant combi has finally given up the ghost after about 20 years service so im looking for advice on a new combi.A plumber friend told me last week(before mine packed up) he has been fitting some Main boilers of late and says they are decent.Does anybody have one of these at all?.The difference between Main and another Vailliant is about £400 when all fitted/flushed etc,any thoughts on this and other combis are very welcome.

Main are the exactly same as the Baxi Duo-Tec. Platinum and Potterton Gold range, but a lot cheaper because they don't have as long a warranty.

Good basic cheap boiler, but can be a bit noisy.

Vaillant are ok, but way overpriced because of the name. They have the same make heat exchanger etc as the main.

Have a look at the Intergas HRE range.

Thanks for info, its such a minefield i really dont know where to turn to be honest.I dont mind paying more if i get value out of it,so many gas people have said Vailliant yet ive had nothing but trouble out of mind but i do accept that its old(18 years). If the Main one is decent then thats quite a saving.

18 years out of your Vaillant is good and shows the quality. Personally i'm a big fan of Vaillants. Thats why I install them. I you do go for a Vaillant choose an installer off the website that can give you a 5 year warranty. Baxi/Potterton/Main are OK-ish. I've no experience of the Intergas but I've heard good things.
