Here is a new view on the "kiddie card" the OP has been bleating about.

How dare somebidy carry their children in an uninsured car, somebody should phone social services.

See how easy this emotional element can be easily altered with a different point of view.

I don't know why we are bothering the OP is never going to accept any opinion other than those that agree with the one they hold.

Personally Uninsured drivers should face bans not a mediocre six points.

I hope you expect a similar response when you come here asking for advice on an honest mistake. And that you get as much help. I didn't make the topic to make a statement, I wanted advice that's all. What I largely got was a lot of bleating about how we should know better, like we haven't been paying insurance for a decade and more. But god damned if we didn't let that insurance slip for a few days.

A few days without insurance! GIVE ME YOUR LICENSE, NO MORE DRIVING FOR YOU!

KILLED SOMEONE WHILE DRIVING WHILE BANNED AND NO INSURANCE! £200 FINE AND 100 HOURS COMMUNITY SERVICE FOR YOU!

    Gimme a break.

Just how many of your family's cars are fronted though?

Do I read that as the boyfriend is a new driver and the 6 points will cause a retest?

As extra little bits come out it gets fishier.

Managed to get insurance in 10 minutes over the internet while BF was waiting on the hard shoulder, yet had over 30 days to get a copy of his licence to the insurer and didn't even manage that?

I was responding to bigjl who recommended bans. The boyfriend has been driving for a decade.

CoOp didn't require a license like E-car did.

    Fronted? There's 3 cars, they're all insured.

    Why not just sod off.

I have never driven uninsured in 24 yrs of driving.

But I have attended well over 50 serious RTC's where the driver causing it was uninsured.

You don't understand the fact that it is an absolute offence, there is no excuse, end of story.

I personally don't care how long you may or may not have had insurance, it is irrelevant.

You may have been able to pay all your bills for 10 years but then you get in trouble and go bankrupt, your previous Insurance history is not relevant.

You have the audacity to come on here and slag off the copper that caught the uninsured driver!

I don't care if they were carrying the queens crown in the back, they drove uninsured.

I had an issue with my car insurance this year as they DD wasn't applied for correctly, I checked the date the payment should have gone aout, and phoned the insurance co straight away to sort it, I also checked my car on MID before driving it to make sure cover wasn't stopped, if it didn't show up on MID then my car would not leave the drive, simples................

You do realise that by checking MID this could all have been avoided?

No, probably not, you just want to come on here with your "victim" hat on and slag off the Police.

Well, sorry if you didn't get the sympathy that you expected.

Uninsured drivers should get the same treatment as drink drivers if you ask me.

What if this driver had knocked down a 5 yr old kiddie?

Who would pay for the injuries sustained or the compensation that needed to be paid, or if the child was seriously injured who would pay for the lifeling care needed, not the person that you are so vigourously defending that is for sure.

    from the cis coop website
You are the main driver of the vehicle
All drivers of the vehicle, including you, have not been refused insurance or had special terms imposed

this car was not in the name of the driver
so do we assume this car was borrowed off the mother who name is on the log book then
    and if so why?

:D You get used to it....eventually!

sean has spelled it out for you, your brother was driving without valid insurance & therefore is guilty of that offence! No ifs, buts or maybes... that is what is meant by "absolute offence". You either have insurance or you don't. Oversight, mistake makes no difference!

The only thing to try is to "reduce" the penalty by convincing the court that your brother honestly believed he was insured, even if they believe him it's very likely he will receive a fine + points...it's not usual to be "let off" completely.

You also have to think about your mum, she may well be targeted for permitting without insurance!
Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!

Thank you, this is all the response I wanted. Not sympathy as bigjl implies. Just an honest answer if there was anything to be done. I don't care if you think avoiding it is right or not, it was an honest mistake and if we can avoid it we will. Paradigm says there isn't, there isn't. Great, case solved.

    Thanks Paradigm.
