. I'm 26 and I feel physically ill because I have to worry about my sister who feels ill because some !!!!!!! pulled her over to the side of the road and threatened to seize her car while she was there with her two baby boys. Meanwhile there are people racing around in their cars with no insurance, mowing people down and getting £200 fines.

    .
Now I am even more confused. Was it sister or boyfriend driving? Whose car is it- mums or sisters?

And there's probably a lot of people who feel physically sick at the thought of having to take their children in a car whilst knowing that there are people driving around with no insurance.

The "some !!!!!!! pulled her over to the side of the road", was someone who is doing a job, and part of that job is to ensure that all people who are using the road are doing so legally.
You can try and shift the blame as much as you like, but it is a simple fact that only one person was at fault here, and that was the person who was driving whilst uninsured.

Intentional or not, it is the responsibility of any road user to ensure that both them and the vehicle that they are in control of is legal.

I'm fairly sure people don't feel physically sick about other people driving around without insurance. Even if they're hit by an insured driver they will spend the next 5 years trying to get compensated for it.

They probably feel angry about them getting away with it while we continue to get gouged by the protection racket that is insurance. But not sick.

Hello Money Saving gang. My sister's boyfriend was pulled over last night with my sister and their two infant sons in the car. They were told they had no insurance and the cop (Who I would like to use an exotic term to describe) tried to leave them and the two kids at the side of the damn motorway in order to tow their car away.

The car is in my mothers name,
she had a cover note for 30 dyas on it while waiting for my sisters boyfriend to provide his license to allow full coverage. This note was issued in May and has expired without notice (I'm aware my mother should have kept track of it too). My sister and the boyfriend were legitimately driving with no knowledge the car was uninsured.

Is there any recourse here at all? He begged this douche officer to let him drive home rather than seize the car and strand two infants so the car hasn't been siezed and literally ten minutes after getting the call, with them still at the side of the road, we had it insured.

But now the boyfriend has to go to court. We already have money issues without fines for being uninsured for 5 days. Is there anything to be done or is it just another case of the regular guy, making an honest mistake and getting pounded hard for it while the criminals continue to get away?

what i find strange is the insurance was done via the police in 10 minutes
it would appear the boyfriend has yet to furnish a copy of his driving licence to insurer yet they let him carry on driving
all this after the 30 days expired
it sounds like a very good insurer to me and should be named with loud trumpets
oh and the police did a very good job too and i had never heard them called that name before and hope not to in future
these same men may save your live one day so respect is called for

I think you've summed it up your attitude perfectly- protection racket. Unfortunately the protection racket caught up with your family. By all means use here to have a rant but its your family who is at fault. If not boyfriend then its mum.

Please stop bringing out the Kiddie Kard, agree no parent wants to see their kiddies hurt, defensive driving courses would be good for all those that carry kids, especially the school run gimps "ooh Must have 20mph max outside the school" - yueah luv, but by the time you reach my house you're doing 50 and you're on the phone.

It wasn't done via the police, we did it over the Internet with Co-Op insurance.

I don't know what is on his license. The car is in my mums name.

    That's not what I asked.
I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care

OP, no insurance is a strict liability defence. The best you can hope for is that the magistrates will agree that there are special reasons not to endorse, in view of the fact that the driver genuinely believed that he was insured to drive the vehicle.

Ignorance is no defence in law.

The OP is moaning about nothing.

We all have to have insurance.

If you think you are mature enough to drive a car then you are mature enough to ensure it is covered by Insurance.

We all have money worries these days.

I have money worries after I pay my Insurance and my wifes Insurance every month by direct debit, the reason everybodies Insurance is so high is due to uninsured drivers and those defrauding the system with dodgy whiplash claims.

The car driver needs to take the points and accept it.

If you urinated in a doorway and got caught saying you didn't know it was illegal is no defence, I personally have a deep hatred for those who drive uninsured.

I think the term "30 day cover note" is fairly self explanatory, don't you?

Here is a new view on the "kiddie card" the OP has been bleating about.

How dare somebidy carry their children in an uninsured car, somebody should phone social services.

See how easy this emotional element can be easily altered with a different point of view.

I don't know why we are bothering the OP is never going to accept any opinion other than those that agree with the one they hold.

Personally Uninsured drivers should face bans not a mediocre six points.
